Question about points/cash on Gather.

Hi all,

I read the faqs, but I still have one question about the points/cash on Gather.  I know that if you make 3000 points in one month (which I doubt will ever get), you can get cash.  What I don't know is if you have to get 3000 points EVERY month.  Does anyone know how it works?  I don't know if it would be worth attempting next month or not.  Can someone give me some information?

I wondered about that too when I joined but I never thought i would ever get the 300 points in one month. I read it as every month I may be wrong.

3000 points in one month makes you get cash for your points?
Oh. Nice. Must be hard to get though.

I will be happy if I can just get a gift card, LOL.

I read it as every month too, but I am not sure. I doubt that I will ever get 3000 in one month anyway. I am just looking forward to getting gift cards to use for Christmas presents. We have an foreign exchange student staying with us next year, so any money I can save or get him or the kids stuff for free is going to be a big help. Plus the Home Depot cards might come in handy since we have so much work to do around the house.

I cannot even imagine how many hours you would have to stay on here in one month to earn 3000 points. I am on here daily quite often and get like 1000 points.
I am saving up for the 50.00 or 100.00 gift cards to Home Depot !!

If you turn your points into cash. You can't go back to getting gift cards. So if you decide to use that option. Make sure that is what you really want to do. 3000 points is hard to get in one month. But very possible. You would to do alot of writing for that.

I'm not sure, Susan. I've been wondering the same thing. I take it that you have to continue earning consistently at least 3,000 to get the money. I would do a search through the articles on here. I'm sure someone has written something about this.

I am on here too much as it is, I would need to be on 24/7 to get 3000 in one month. I was curious. I know that alot of people do make it though.

Beats me about the 3000. It will probably take me 6 months to get a $10.00 gift card.

Wow, if you couldn't switch back, I doubt I would want the cash anyway. Too bad there aren't any gas gift cards.

If Gather did offer Gas GCs, they'd probably be for companies not in my area... ;-P

Hmm...Susan, from what I have learned you have to make the 3000 points in one month, and then after that you will be payed in cash. I am trying to make it this month, but I am not sure if it will happen, I am currently at about 1500 points, so I really have to up my game, if I want to make it to the 3000. I think this is the only month that I will have the time to do it though, if it is possible, as I will be going to graduate school in August. Good luck with it Susan, let us know if you are up for the attempt next month.

Once you've gotten 3000 in a month, you DO NOT have to get 3000 every month from then on out. :)

Sherry and jr - can you still get gift cards AND cash? I MAY attempt it in the next month or so. It looks like I am going to have some surgery, so I might be off work for a few weeks. When I am off work, I will have time to live on the computer.

Once you hit 3,000 points in one calendar month, you can switch to the option of cash ober gift cards. You do not have to hit 3,000 points every month after that...you convert to the same amount of cash as the face value of gift cards based on the amount of points you have. For example, even if it takes you two months to reach 3,125 points, whenever you hit that amount, you qualify for $50 cash...less Gather handling fees...and PayPal handling fees if you have the cash transferred through them. Gift cards you get at face value. Once you opt for cash, you can change back over to gift cards at any time just by notifying Gather of your desire to switch. I reached 3,000 points after my first 28 days writing on Gather...and I usually publish no more than two articles per day. I haven't been on 100 days yet and am already pushing the 11,000 point mark.

Yes, as Rob clarified, you only need to reach the 3000 point threshold within one month once. After that, you can continue earning cash for your points, even if you do not reach that level in subsequent months. Gather monitors the levels of Gather Points our members accrue, and will contact members when they reach that threshold for the first time.

Sara, to clarify, members CAN switch back to points after they switch to cash. You just need to email support@gather.com and let us know.

I just read threw all the comments and they were very helful especially Chuck! I just hit 3000 and Im crossing my fingers waiting for the invite for cash. Only concern I had was being "stuck" with the cash option if I ever wanted to change it. Thank you for clearing that up for me!

I barely get 10/month so it will ea long time if ever that I get cash. I just hope the points accumulate so eventually I can get a gift card.
