Hey ya'll,
Even though it is about one o'clock in the morning, I thought I would write a note to all my friends here to let you know why I have not been as active on Gather in recent weeks, as well as "ketchup" on a few of the articles and images that some of you have published.
The main reason for my recent drop in time spent "gathering" was we were amidst the final days leading up to my youngest step-daughter's wedding. Well, that celebration was earlier this evening and it was quit
e an event. I had to ask my wife how many bridesmaids there were because the number surpassed my counting ability which is limited to the number of fingers on both hands. There were eleven........yes, eleven. The party ended just a couple of hours ago. It was quite the South Louisiana "fais-do-do." Every guest received a white bandana silk-screened with a large fleur-de-lis and the names of the bride and groom. It served two purposes. The first was to use it during the traditional "Second Line," to the tune of "When The Saints Go Marching In." I am guessing that the line that formed was 100 strong, about 1/3 of those attending. Of course, the second was as a souvenir for each guest.
Another reason for my recent reduction of Gather time involves my current search for employment. While I have income from a few different sources, our hurricane repair has drained all our little stashes and the job is not yet complete. Even though we had a reasonable amount of both home owner's and flood insurance we were forced to take advantage of the SBA disaster loans that were offered. Repayment on those begins this month. So that is added to the regular house note.
Finally, rather than teach a classes (addictions & faith-based addictions counseling) this quarter at Koinonia Bible College as I have done for the past two quarters, I resumed my own studies there. I am currently enrolled in a course on the Epistles, I & II Peter. Although, I love to teach at the college, I love learning more.
There are lots of other things going on, but these are the major ones. Some of you may have already noticed I am trying to drop in from time-to-time in order to "ketchup."
Thanks for reading,
Robb

Thank you and thank you once again!
Thanks for dropping by> I appreciate your kind words and wishes.
I am signed up over there, but for the same reasons, I have not been able to post anything as of yet. You missed a doozy of a party.
"The Feds are looking for counselors in the city and paying big bucks."
I suppose those dirty no-good bounty hunters will be on my tail again! How much is the ree-ward up to this time?
Thanks for stopping by Ron and thanks for the tip. I have been watching the Fed Jobs site. Can you point me to the particulars......and city, NOLA or BR?
Did you know that I live smack dab in the middle of the Pirate/Hero, Jean Lafitte's old splashing ground?
As for weddings......really not weddings so much.......but life, sometimes, after weddings........Been there done that.......got the scars to prove it!
Robb and please elaborate on "faith-based addiction" for my own interest too.
Thanks for stopping by, R&C.
Unless I am missing it, I can't find where I wrote about "faith-based addictions." I wrote, "addictions & faith-based addictions counseling." To clarify further, as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I am an adjunct instructor at the college. I teach three different courses. One course is an introductory course about addictions which covers, the definition of addiction vs. abuse; types of addictions, stages of addiction, cycle of addiction, etc. The second and third involve instructing students in faith-based (Biblical) counseling models. Some who struggtle with addiction prefer to work toward recovery within the framework of these models. Therapon Belief Therapy is the major focus of the counseling course. This was the first "faith-based" therapeutic model to be officially recognized in the US. It is heavily based on Rational-Emotive Belief Therapy. It follows Biblical principles, but "does not through the psychological baby out with the theological bath-water." Perhaps I have muddied up what you have asked enough.
We've missed you! I know that Louisiana has a program that began last month offering nice bonuses to those in medical/dental and counseling professions who are willing to work in Orleans, Jeff, St Bernard. I had looked into myself, and though they will not accept my MS in psychology, they will accept LCSW...I'll PM you the link with the info.
Thanks for the heads up. However, someone (it may have been you!) has already alerted me to the program. I checked it out, but after a couple of readings I still didn't understand all the angles. Then I noticed the deadline for signing up has passed or was about to. Thanks anyway though. I have a couple of interviews lined up for this week. In fact, one as a pt-temp research asst. at LSUHSC, is later this morning. The second, ft-perm position at a privately-owned counseling center.
I was looking for something pt because this Wed. my son gets out of school in BR and he will be spending the summer with us. However, if the job is offered the ft position may be too good to pass up.
Thanks again
I'll be around with the mustard and mayo on another day!
You & NOLA will be as always in my prayers.
I am happy you dropped in. Thank you for both your congratulations and prayers. The prayers will forever be needed. In fact, I am currently writing an article regarding my recent observations around the city.
best of luck to your step daughter...planning a wedding is so time consuming, I did that a few years ago..oy.........
also best of luck with that Job hunting....It's tough ou there but I'm sure you will find something...
best to you always, Barbara
From all after Wedding/Reception reports, it seems the Wedding was elegant and the reception was "great." Girl, you know that city or swamp doesn't make a bit of difference when it comes to having "class." However, there wasn't a fight in the parking lot that I know of, but there was one person tossed from the joint for reasons I won't go into. It had nothing to do with Ketchup though.
Things may already be coming together on the job hunting thingy. The kids returned from there honeymoon about an hour ago. Maybe my wife will begin to settle back into her wonderful self.
Since I don't know of anyone that insures with that particularly company, I haven't heard anything about them in particular. I will keep my ears and eyes open for you. I did read in today's Times-Pic that the Ins. Rating Comm. allowed 4 companies to increase their rates. I am happy to report your's was not among them.
Seems the "you cannot choose your family" saying may apply here. Yes, it is dumb. Thinking about it, there can only be a limited number of reasons someone would expect property ownership without having to provide maintenance or having insurance protection for what they own. None of them are acceptable. I am guessing this is all part of inheritance issues. That is one thing that I will not have to worry much about. My mom and dad never had much, so that's not one of my "worries."
No, in this case, they thought they were getting something for nothing...I am a responsible person. I just have to get a $300 a month extra job to pay the insurance and that's why I applied for Gather greeter position. Life is a balance! I am still fixing up the house from Hurricane Lily. We had no insurance then - it had been dropped for non-payment - not my mother's fault she kept it up but anyway - it was dropped...and La. Citizen was all I could get for whatever price. You know Fema is sick of helping La. folks with all the false claims. I'm glad they're arresting those crooks. At least 20 in my hometown are looking at charges. The are investigating big time. I plan to spend my summer working on the house in between working on another book and helping with a documentary - so if yall in the neighborhood - lol - stop by! Salud.
I am sure we could work out an agreement on a little labor for some down-home hospitality and showing us the backroads of the area that was once your world. Perhaps I can observe a "real" author in her research. However, we would expect that you force yourself down New Orleans way. You see, all my Katrina repairs are not yet complete. I need someone, not so much for labor, but to motivate me. Then, if you want to go to da Quata or crabbing or touring backroads with your camera we could arrange that to...................Do you see any possibilities here?
