And not only in Texas. We have 'em here in our small NW town. We used to have some. Since my husband took care of the ladies, they thought he was the rooster--ha! And occasionally we see a stray pheasant cruising around the neighborhood.
What a beautiful rooster! They are so neat! Do you know where he came from? Do you have a neighboring farm or something or did he just show up out of the blue? I get ducks in my yard fairly routinely in the spring time but would really be surprised if a big 'ol rooster came strutting into the yard (though there are some people down the street that have chickens I belive).
I live in town. This guy and his lady wandered out of someone's yard and into mine. People here have no problem raising chickens in town. By the way, this is a game cock, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's the father of a large family of boys. Cockfighting may be illegal here, but it isn't unheard of.
