My brief presentation of an idea was accepted as one of the finalists for this contest. It involves having people voluntarily contribute a nickel for each cup of coffee purchased at local coffeehouses (estimated at 4 billion cups, by the way) with the money to be used for local efforts to impact national and global campaigns to save the world! Anyway, the idea has generated some conversations about whether a voluntary contribution of a nickel a cup is a tax. Perhaps like the annual "United Way" tax some of us pay.ÂÂÂ
What do you think?ÂÂÂ
And by the way, I would love some good reviews and high points to give me idea a chance.ÂÂÂ
You can see the finalists at http://earthwatch.gather.com. I can't figure out how to otherwise get there from here.ÂÂÂ
Anyway, what say you give your five cent opinion?

even after the contest was over ...
My two-cents are posted to your original article.
Thanks for your persistents at making sure we are all saved from new "taxes."

Then again, the good news is I've drunk two coffees lately and saved myself an dime that would have been wasted on saving the planet!
