Imagine for a moment that you're *just* a Squidoo visitor. You have no desire or intention to ever make a webpage. You just enjoy finding interesting information. And once you've found a source for finding the best information (such as Google and wikipedia) you bookmark it permanently.
Now how would it be if every lens you visited was begging for 5 stars?
It would look kinda tacky wouldn't it?
Panhandling for points distracts from the quality and direction of the lens.
People aren't coming to your lens for the chance to be hit up for a star rating. They came to be 1) informed (with appropriate links to other sites that deal with the topic), 2) educated (you've written an original article) or 3) entertained.
If you provide anything less than that you're proving yourself to be an amateur.
So give the audience what they expect and deserve. And anyway, people who are *just* a visitor, they're the ones more likely to bookmark your page, refer your page to friends, click on ads and buy products from affiliate modules. AND... just in case you forgot (or didn't even know) they can't actually rate a lens at all.
