Who knew?
I felt pretty miserable all day yesterday, my stomach not acting right, just yucky.
Around 8pm last night I was talking to a friend on the phone and mentioned it.
She told me that I should try some fresh ginger root. I'm like what???
I don't keep stuff like that around the house usually.
She laughed and asked me if I had any ginger in my cabinet to use for cooking.
I do.
She told me to take a pinch and put it on my tongue and swallow.
She said it might take a while, longer than the fresh ginger root but it would help.
Well I have to say that I was skeptical.
My dh brought home a late supper (after he brought the kiddo back from boy scouts).
I put that pinch on my tongue. ACH!! Ginger doesn't taste good on your tongue
by itself! I took a drink of water quickly and started eating my taco bell chicken bowl.
After about 3 bites I suddenly had this WHOOMF come over me and my stomach felt
fine! I felt fine all over after being miserable all day!!
OH MY GOODNESS!
I called and thanked her today and she said it worked for motion sickness too.
I guess I need to buy extra ginger to keep in the car.
Thank you Kryistina(whimspiration.gather.com) for the wonderful help!
I'm wondering what other natural stuff works to help with different problems?
Anyone have any favorites?
I'd love to hear some that have worked for you.

I've given it to my son since he was tiny, w/ his doc's permission, and my son's diaper rash (which is a yeast infection) cleared up
my mom used to get yeast infections anywhere that she would sweat even if she wasn't taking antibiotics, she started taking acidophilous, too, and her yeast infections cleared up.
we also take many herbs and vitamins and minerals too numerous to name here, but i don't advocate taking anything w/out a doc's permission because some can hurt you if you have too much in your system, especially the one's that are not water soluble, such as iron!
take care and i hope you continue to feel better!
For adults, there is a yoga position that takes of the gas and the disconfort associated with it. I will try and find a picture of it to post here to better explain it. If u have stomach ache due to gas, keep aside cold milk and take a tablespoon every 5 minutes. It helps.
For relief in stomach ache just take a tablespoon full of ajwain seeds (Oregano, Thyme/ Carom seeds) and a pinch of aesfoetida powder and gulp it down with a glass of water - immediate relief.
If you have cold and congestion (it works very well for babies and toddlers and adults alike) - heat mustard oil with ajwain seeds (Oregano, Thyme/ Carom seeds) .Bring it to luke warm temperature, rub on feet, and chest but remeber to put on socks and cover the chest well. It relieves the symptoms.
More later as I remember. meanwhile if you know of a problem let me know i'll see if I have anything in my home remedy stock for this. Please remember these are all Indian remedies and have been found to relieve the given symptoms but dont take it as a medical advice. :))
For coughing you can chew gingerroot with honey at night.
These are just a few I take every day.
Sounds like an easy one to try.
thanks!
I've never heard of those either!
Tea bag, does it have to be boiled?
And the salt, just sprinkle it on the itch?
Thanks for sharing these.
I never heard of putting yogurt on a yeast infection.
I take it orally to cure it or keep i from happening if I'm on an antibiotic.
hmmmm.
thanks for sharing.
I've heard good things about acidophilous but never tried it.
thanks for the advice!
For colds and other respiratory problems, boil several slices of ginger and drink the resulting tea.
For sore throat, crush several cloves of garlic. Mix with olive oil; heat but do not atually fry. Rub on throat and wrap in a towel to keep warm.
For cold and flu, take a very hot shower, put on a thick flannel nighty and get in bed under blankets. Have a famiy member bring you hot orange juice (hot but *not* boiled). Drink it, lie down and sweat out the germs.
Douche with warm water and apple cider vinegar--cures yeast infection faster than monistat.
Wash hair with apple cider vinegar; gets rid of dandruff permanently.
Avocados 3-4 times a week prevent leg cramps and help alleviate restless legs syndrome.
Turmeric, cinnamon and ginger help diabetes.
Tomatoes cooked with olive oil help prevent prostate cancer.
Eating wheat germ both cures and prevents both diarrhea and constipation.
Drop warmed olive oil into an aching ear.
Gargle hot salty water to cure sore throat.
All except for the douching thing, douching (with anything containing vinegar or germ-killers/bacteriocides) kills the benificial bacteria that eat the yeasts/bad germs that cause the infection in the first place. The bad germs grow back faster than the good ones, so douching actually adds to the problem. Now warm water or aloe vera juice and yogurt or multidophilus powder would make for a nice and effective douche treatment for yeast infections. Maintaining the body's natural balance is always the best way to go. Yeast infections only occur when that balance is upset.
Those all sounded great! I'll pass on the baby ones to my nieces who have babies.
thanks!
Oh Lemon Zinger sounds good. They used to have a red zinger, was it raspberryzinger? that I absolutely loved but I haven't had it in years.
I can try that one too.
Thanks.
I'm going to make a list and print it out of all of these.
You put it in your ear? or take it orally?
I'm learning all kinds of new things.
thanks for sharing.
btw, I smile whenever I see your name.
My best friend in 1st and 2nd grade was named Cherie or was it Cherry? Williams. I haven't seen her since then but you bring up a warm memory for me.
I've heard of the bee pollen but not the others.
These are all pills that you get and take?
I need to do some research.
thanks for sharing!
You are just full of info!
thanks for sharing, I'm definately googling tomorrow to find out more about all these.
thanks again for the great advice.
You are the queen of all things natural!
:P
Natural balance is important, I'm just never sure how to get there, kwim?
All of the Zinger teas are good for you. (Celestial Seasonings makes those.)
Chamomile tea is good for relaxation and also for yeast infections.
Mint is good both for gas and stomach upset. Also, tested and pure, two drops of peppermint essential oil in a teaspoonful of honey, taken orally.
Valerian (but it tastes and smells awful) - the herb as a tea or the essential oil (two drops) on a tissue inhaled, will help with insomnia.
Lavender is also relaxing, antifungal, anti-viral and smells great.
Lemon essential oil has taken away more cold sores than any of us can count, a drop on the sore and in a couple days it's gone.
Ginger root, I don't buy as I have sensitivities to it, but my husband off and on will use an essential oil blend that I mix up, a few drops to an ounce of a carrier oil (sweet almond, grapeseed, rice bran oil, etc's) that's then rubbed on the stomach - me? It makes me sick as it actually burns me.
Always check with your Dr - but don't really expect them to always know what on earth you're talking about, as many aren't up on herbs at all. Some are though..
Pinkeye - what we use - Rose (Otto, tested and pure) Hydrosol, we put it right in the eye and it's cleared up in a couple of days.
Pro-biotic - Oregano Hydrosol, not more than 10% mixed with a liquid you'll drink - ie: soda, juice, usually something cold. There's a lot out there. :)
Thanks for sharing all of that!
I have a friend who does essential oils but I haven't tried many. Is there one that helps you stay focused?
My dh has ibs and has tried the mint tea and the peppermint oil in the honey.
I'll have to check out the rest of them.
That sounds downright miraculous!
I'll be sure to pass that one on.
I wonder if it would help an adult with a bloated stomach?
hmmm
thanks for sharing!
I'm glad you got an answer from Sherry because I'd have no idea!
