I always peruse Ebay but that can be iffy because unless you know the brands exceptionally well and know the price it should be, then it’s a roll of the dice to get the best deals.
Target has some deals in their new GO collection and I love that but the sizing is often not consistent and it moves out FAST on hot lines. Their Proenza Schoeler collection was flying out of stores. I ordered $200 dollars worth of product and wound up only getting $50 dollars worth of stuff from their website and I ordered the FIRST DAY it was online. There’s always off price stores like Loehmans, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross and Nordstrom Rack where prices are lower but again you have to know your brands and be prepared to sift through a LOT of stuff both in the looking and the trying on to see if it works on you.. then you have to think about the price tag and is it worth it. (It was for a friend of mine who snagged a great Tahari antique white on pure white embroidered jacket/top with hook & eye closure for literally pennies on the dollar. Original price tag was intact-- $498.00. Her price in her local TJ Maxx--- $40.00!! Now that’s a bargain but it’s a bargain because it’s also her style of garment. That’s another caveat there- you have to know what works for you and be prepared to take it home, and then if you find that it doesn’t work in your wardrobe, return it.There is another option and it’s one that I frequently use—PlanetLulu.com. Whenever they have sales – and I registered for their emails so that I can get that “ you are so invited” notifications of exactly when and where the next sale is—and it happens that there is one this week. I am hot for this one because there are some “killer” jeans on sale starting at 59 dollars for brands that I covet—jeans junkie that I am. They have lots on sale and what I love about it is that it's a mad scramble ONLINE-- much like a regular sample sale but different because you can shop in the comfort of your own home. I love that I can test something out-- see if it really works and then if it doesnt, they do take returns within a limited time frame. I have gotten some steals there in jeans, handbags, great jammies, and also tops! I even buy gifts there like tees and jewelry. It's a one stop heck of a bargain shopping bonanza. There is that situation though like all shopping excursions, you might not find anything you like or in your size or particular color. There might be a lot and you have to choose carefully -- particularly if you don't know the brand. Last time they had a sale, there were some adorable Heatherette tees that I could kick myself for not scoring because they were over 60% off the retail. C'est la guerre!
If you haven’t heard about this place and/or want to learn more check out my LA STORY BLOG -- which can give you more details.
It's worth signing up for emails, just to see what's in the store. At least you don't have to spend the gas to get there.. That's a huge plus!
