It is sad to see how corporations could care less about our well-being, they only care about making a profit. Look at the food we eat, it is tainted with hormones, pesticides, preservatives. Some of you might be surprised to hear our meat has carbon monoxide to keep it looking red and fresh, yet carbon monoxide is a toxin, and is deadly. Most people don't relaize how our food kills us slowly (heart disease, strokes, high hdl levels, and the worst and most common killer being cancer). Food that has been tainted with so many chemicals, toxins is carcinogenic, and causes cancer. the onyl sure way to lower your chances of such diseases is actually eat organic, or natural foods, the least they are processed the safer and better you can feel about your health.
One shouldn't even use the debate that its better that cows and hens are injected with hormones because in that way they produce more food for us, and we need a lot of food to feed a lot of use. Maybe we should take a look at the way we eat, how wasteful we are at times. But most significantly the amount we eat. If we eat smaller portions, especially of organic foods ( foods that are pristine and intact from toxins, and such) we will be healthier. Of course it is not within the Food industry's interest to sell less food. They want to sell more , because selling more means a greater profit for them. When diseases come up, sometimes the food we eat is a great cause/influence in our illness. It is significant, we make better food choices. As for the argument that organic foods are much more expensive, that is much less true today, and will be mroe and more affordable in the future. As more and more organic food companies come about, as consumers we will have more and more choices to choose from, and prices wont be so high, being that there is so much competition. You can also grow your own food, buy from a local small farm, join a co-op, or find smaller independent markets which have organic foods available at lower prices than do supermarkets. there are many options, and the options are increasing day-today. Eat organic, and be healthy.

How many chickens and hogs are quarantined due to being fed food that was laced with the melemine tainted wheat gluten? And this administration has made it much easier for food to be tainted or infected(spinach and lettuce with e.coli????) due to less stringent policies and less people working for the governement in areas they are needed.
Do you realize there is another toxin that kills thousands of people a year, yet it is not banned. That's water.
They also inject the meats with steroids and all sorts of antibiotics. Hence, the "Super Germs" that no normal antibiotics will touch.
But I must add that it is our demands for profits from companies and cheap food that led us down this path. Are we going to invest in a company that isn't making money? In the past, would we have paid more for organic this or that when we could get it for a lot less non-organic? We have grown into a society that expects more for a lot less and less. That view has it's drawbacks in not just our foods, but with a huge list of things. We expect store X to have low prices, but we are outraged when they don't offer health care to their employees, for example.
I am not ranting, but I think we need to take some responsibility upon ourselves.
Thanks for posting this article. People have NO IDEA what they eat!!

Thanks for this post. This is important stuff. I'm a city girl, living in suburbia. I thought veggies grew in cans until I was in college. Still, I've been working on a garden for the past two years, teaching myself what I need to know. The writing is on the wall, folks. We just have to see it.
I wonder do we really need so much food (to warrant injection of hormones and other chemicals since we have an obese nation. I buy organic when possible and when it comes to meat and eggs it must be hormone and antibiotic free and free range. It's more expensive (but coming down) so I don't eat as much meat as we are conditioned to believe we must in this country.
I've been hearing fish and chicken was tainted via the food fed to the animals. Rather than REMOVE IT FROM THE MARKET they say it's low levels, eat up!
I'm sorry, but we are humans were never intended to eat "low levels" of a product used to make PLASTIC. Watch. In the coming years we will see the real side effects of eating the melamine contaminated foods.
I, for one will not be buying any fish or chicken for a very long time.
Even organic foods have been recalled. I remember an organic BABY FOOD recall in teh recent months.
Nothing, even growing your own, is foolproof, and that's the real scare.
thanks
