Less than stellar parenting moves

OK, I have a confession to make, well, uh.. several actually:

1. I admit it, I plop the kids in front of the TV from time to time.

2. Although I swore I would never let my children drink soda, they swig it at least once a week (that's if you don't count all the sips they steal from mine during the day).

3. I don't bathe them everyday - just don't want to drown an early sleeper!

So what do things do you do as a parent that make you less than perfect?

sometimes if we are in a hurry i let them eat doughnuts for breakfast, nothin like a sugar rush in the morning.

What is a perfect parent?
A perfect parent is one that holds unconditional love for their children.

I agree with Nicole! But, on the topic of things that others would say is not great parenting...hmm...let's see. I too plop my son in front of the tv sometimes to get a break. I do also give him a tiny bit of soda or ice cream (if he's begging or crying for it when we're having it....only 1 or 2 times per week). Sometimes, we don't brush his teeth if he falls asleep on the couch. Have you ever tried to wake a 2 year old up to brush his teeth? It's not fun!

I agree with Nicole. I have to. All my lofty ideals about parenting went out the window very early on for a million and two reasons (not excuses). But, one thing I have always allowed my kids to do is speak their minds - to me at least -- So long as they are not disrespectful (too much so anyway) or purposefully hurtful. I have always believed children should have a healthy outlet for their feelings.

I lie to my son sometimes... Ok not really. I just tell him I don't know where the movie is that he wants to watch that has been on none stop for the last 72 hours...hmmm, it just disappeared. Things like that. It's not something I do often because he is smart and understands when I reason with him and explain things to him.
