Whitey's Gone Broody

Seven years old, and suddenly she wants to hatch an egg. She's been sitting in that nesting box nearly 24/7 for a week--on an unfertilized egg that isn't even hers.

And I have noooo problem with that.

susan take that egg and give her an egg that is fertilzed and let her hatch it out. i hatch out eggs every 28 days. count the days. she will sit the whole time. but it's fun to watch . I got 6 new baby chicks today . i'll post the pixs tomorrow. have fun. i just love watching everyone on the farm having new babies.

it will certainly make me think twice when i eat a chicken what emotions that chicken had, what longings she was unable to express..

What a beauty! Broody and all. I'll definitely ask my feed salesman for some fertilized eggs for my hens when they get to that point. They are only 3 months old now.
