for some reason today my mind has been in the Carolinas
some windswept coast, some open vista of sea.
there are many places like that between north Georgia
and the end of the upper North Carolina coast.
I have been to very few of them.
but for some reason today my mind has been there.
feeling a cool sea breeze, arm around a loved one,
can't quite see who...
dreaming of the Carolinas

I wish I could turn back time and make it the way it was when I was a child. Little concrete cottages that never blocked the view, and could just be hosed out after a hurricane. Now there are so many three story view blockers, it makes me sad.
"In lower latitudes, in warmer air, in the Carolinas, the large black buzzard floating slowly, high beyond the tree tops,
Below, the red cedar, festoon'd with tylandria—the pines and cypresses, growing out of the white sand that spreads far and flat;
Rude boats descending the big Pedee—climbing plants, parasites, with color'd flowers and berries, enveloping huge trees,
The waving drapery on the live oak, trailing long and low, noiselessly waved by the wind..." Walt Whitman
