And so i will go back and check up on the nest in a week or so because i think one of the eggs has a crack in it, but is not visible in this image.
let's say it was easily accessible, at chest height and I could have taken all the eggs easily. however, she was back on the nest a few minutes after I left. Blackbirds are totally careless about where they stick their nests and easily flappable. The combination makes for a good afternoons's entertainment.

and it ws supposedly hidden, but this blackbird is a real dodo and put the nest in plain sight.
Oh, talking about crazy birds, the skylark is a lark-- the first time i saw a skylark, I couldn't comprehend how any bird could imitate a kamikaze pilot. But you're right, I think that the blackbird is the best of the songbirds. The thrush sounds like one of those car warning systems and the magpie is a total loss.
and then of course, there are frogs.
