Here's an excerpt from a recent email from Mom'sRising.org
Happy Mother's Day and Happy Birthday! This Mother's Day marks the first birthday of MomsRising. Way to go everyone! We are now over 90,000 members strong, with over seventy-five aligned organizations—and are growing by 500 to 1,000 members per week lately.
DID YOU SAY MOTHER'S DAY? Yes, Mother's Day is this Sunday and we have not one, not two, but three big national activities we're doing for the big day. It's a triple extravaganza! Here's the lowdown:
1-DON'T MISS THE MOTHERHOOD MANIFESTO ON PBS THIS WEEKEND! Grab some popcorn, invite friends and family to join you, and get ready to watch the film from the comfort of your living room couch on your local PBS station!
WHEN IS IT ON?: Click here to check when the film is airing in your area (and feel free to tape it and play it later with friends if it's not on at a convenient time!): http://www.momsrising.org/PBS -
PARTY, PARTY: Our house party program is ongoing, so we'd love it if you could hold a gathering (even 2 friends can be a party!) to watch the film—and tell us about it. This allows us to tell the media and policy makers that our movement is strong and growing—and that they should listen. So please register your party here: http://www.party2win.com/momsrising/hostparty/index.cfm or just send us an email at party@momsrising.org "
Join the party and check out these Mother's Day extras:
* The one, the only, super fabulous Infant Aerial Stunt Team Mother's Day e-Card! http://www.momsrising.org/motherecard/
* Robert Greenwald has just announced another important Mother's Day initiative.
Go to http://www.MothersDayForPeace.com to see a new short video eCard in honor of Mother's Day. The video, featuring Felicity Huffman, Vanessa Williams, Alfre Woodard, and Christine Lahti, celebrates the original meaning of Mother's Day, founded during the Civil War as a call upon women to unite for peace in the name of children everywhere. The video is being distributed virally over the internet by Robert Greenwald's Brave New Foundation via YouTube in partnership with a large coalition of groups, including MoveOn and MomsRising.
