Friday, May 11: The second stop on my book tour takes us to beloved Gather blogger Kathryn Esplin Oleski. I first met Kathryn on Gather in its very early days when there were only several hundred of us members. When I gave my very first author reading -- at the Harvard Coop in Boston -- Kathryn was there with a whole group of Gather supporters (executives and members). What an event that was. Gatherers' support gave me the boost I needed to get through the event without passing out (only joking) and they've been there for me ever since.
I’ve been interviewed many times on radio and in print and found Kathryn’s questions among the most thoughtful and provocative I’ve been asked. She’s also written a fine review of The Scent of God. I hope you’ll visit Kathryn’s blog and leave a comment that you’ve been there. I will be connecting with Kathryn’s site throughout the day to respond to comments and answer questions you might want to ask.
So what's a book blog tour? Hey, I'm an author and I'd never heard of one until Rachelle Gardner-- a popular Christian blogger who'd read my book and left a stunning comment there-- asked me if I was doing one. Let me say that If you like attending author readings, you will love visiting book blog tours. Blog tours bring authors right to your computer screen without the need to battle traffic or high gas prices to meet them. Each blogger brings a distinctive voice and insight to the event, eliciting from the author exciting insights about the writing process and the psychological, cultural, and emotional underpinnings of the book.
It seemed logical to ask the blogger who'd introduced me to book blog tours to host my first stop. Last week my blog tour took me to Rachel Gardner’s blog of musings on faith, kids, marriage, books and life. Stop in if you missed it.
A number of Gather bloggers will be hosting me on this two month tour including David Rochester, Patry Francis, Diana Raabe, Jessie V, Amanda W. Tonia G and Debbie G, Dolphi, and Aaron Lazaar.
I hope you come and visit. Whether you are a writer or a reader you'll find something new each time.
The Scent of God was recently nominated by booksellers for a Midwest Booksellers Book Award, was a “Notable” Booksense selection for April 2006; and the Minneapolis Star Tribune named Beryl as a "Best of 2006 Minnesota Authors." Purchase Book link

Look forward to your reports.

Stephen, I'm so delighted that Natalie and you will be reading my book.
Thanks for this news. Put me down as interested. Sounds like a fabulous idea.
Glad to know this one from me was a great success. Thank you very much for inviting me, Beryl.
I love to see that you're experience in press promotions to work on your own book, and can't wait to get the reports on how your blog tour is doing.
marianne K., welcome to Gather! You ask about keeping up on Beryl's blog... All you have to do is go to the left of this article (or any other one of hers) and click the orange "subscribe" button. Once you've subscribed, you can go to your Gather.com settings (found through the link at the very top right of your page, where it says "settings" next to "help" and "sign out") and check the boxes to indicate how you'd like to be notified of Beryl's new posts. Her posts will also appear in the "My subscriptions" section of your Gather.com namespace homepage. I hope this helps!
A suggestion... since so many people asked about your book why don't you include a link to purchase your book at amazon or perseus at the end of all your articles about your book blog tour? Then you make a book sale AND you get the referral fee too, what could be better?
Good luck and much congratulations!
