It's beginning to look like the Democrats witchhunt against Alberto Gonzales and the Bush administration is coming to a close, and as many said from the beginning, this case was going to go nowhere. After more than six months of digging, the Democrat led committees were unable to come up with anything of substance.

Repeating the arguments he made to the Senate committee, Mr Gonzales acknowledged that the firings had been mishandled but insisted they were made on performance, not political, grounds.
And... that is all she wrote.
The memo dated March 2006, delegated to chief of staff and White House liaison, D. Kyle Sampson, "the authority, with the approval of the Attorney General, to take final action in matters pertaining to the appointment, employment, pay, separation, and general administration" of non-civil-service employees. Shortly thereafter, Monica Goodling stepped into the role of White House liaison.
There's more justice dept corruption to come donnyboy..............
Ron - if you were speaking, I would have no doubt you would be spitting all over yourself. Slow down and and fix the typos -- I am having trouble reading what you said. As far as the White House having the abilitity to hire and fire Attorney Generals, that has always been the Presidents right. Read the Constitution. It's called Executive Priviledge, and the Attorney Generals work at the pleasure of the President (which means he can fire them at any time he wishes). Grasp that --- it's the truth, then reconsider your position and let me know if you still think something is wrong.
lol.
Why are you so happy the democrats are dragging down this adminstration with nonsense? They have important work to do.
A clear majority are over this whole thing. Time to move on. I think most reasonable people are satisfied that no wrong doing happened with these firings.
Never .
Kathleen are you another of donnyboys alter egos??
donnyboy is the man of a hundred identities..................
I agree, but would add that the questions have been unexpected. The process was not perfect, and I think there was some embarrassement. At the end of the day, he apologized for that... and when you get down to the bottom line, the AGs serve at the Presidents pleasure.
bush is incompetent , gonzo is incompetent and immoral , cheney is just evil , rice is a fool , and you love them all .
Makes you all of the above and a facts twister.
You must have missed that there are now five REPUBLICAN senators who have called for Gonzales to go (and surely more have communicated it in private).
Either you are on the payroll of Newt Gingrich or maybe you are the reincanation of Eugene V Debbs -
or possibly John Birch anyway you do add some spice to a conversation .
Just by showing not everyone can do comedy-
Good example of the television show last night- Last Comic Standing-
Hey I got it you are that Silverback guy that lost last week from Canada-
Hey I liked your stick!
Hey do you play that Git Box too or is it a collection?
Nigel for President in 2008
A chicken in every pot! Carnitas too!
(of course, not one liberal will rise to the occassion to give a clear answer)
let me add this up 4000 dead American soldiers and 10's of thousands of dead Iraqis and trillions of dollars of debt versus a few stained dresses and some botched personal financial decisions. When you hear people saying that George Bush is the worst President we have ever had they are not kidding and the evidence keeps piling up day after day year after year...................................................................................
Oh why bother to go back and respond to this right wing blah blah blah blah
Now that Gonzales is out isn't it time for you to say "looks like I've lost again!?"
