I was looking for a rental car for my upcoming trip to Iceland. I read online that http://www.kemwel.com/ is a great company. I decided to give it a shot! Kemwel is a 3rd party booking service for overseas car rentals. For my reservation Kemwel is using Avis because I did not want to pay the $45 airport pickup fee. I figured it was easier for me to pickup near my hotel since we're using FlyBus to get to and from the KEF airport. The last time I tried to rent a car I had a question regarding my online reservation. So I dialed a toll-free number and my hold time was going to be 7 minutes before talking to a human. I hung up and I will not use that company.
Kemwel offers a toll-free number and someone answered on the first ring! I spoke to a guy that had been to Iceland before and he said they have a downtown location (near my hotel) with Sunday hours! This would save me the $45 airport fee! He was very helpful and explained the insurance (a must have when driving in volcano and glacier country!). I have until May 18 to pay in full to secure this rate. I don't mind paying in full because that way I can get the 4x4 rate I want with a cheaper rate than going thru Avis direct. He had no problem with a city pickup versus airport (most rental companies do not like you do do this--esp with Sunday hours).
For those of you planning your next vacation consider Kemwel. They are fantastic!

You are welcome. Renting a car in Iceland the 2nd time around is a must. We were not planning on it...but it all worked out the first time for us to rent a car. We went places where there were no other humans there but us.
