Some job-related questions...

Sorry for my spelling...it's pushing 1am, I have to get up in a few, and I took pain pills...but I gotta do this stuff while I'm thinking of it, or I'll be screwed.

I like your idea - a lot. Here's a couple others - proof-reader (he might be able to do that at home and still do his own writing). Just a thought.
Tutoring? I don't know what that pays, but it's a good feeling to know that you're helping others with your knowledge of writing. He's sure qualified.

My college didn't have a creative writing major, just English, but that's what I did in effect. I ended up running my uncle's 1,000 acre cattle ranch for 11 years while keeping my writing alive in small ways. I was able to drive and willing to move, but more importantly willing to learn and grow. A passion for reading and writing can lead to some interesting life paths which are difficult to foresee but which make sense in retrospect. I would be most concerned about his passion for life, discovery and growth, and if those aren't a problem, he will be fine although he may not have an easy road to finding where he fits into the world of careers.

If that is what he likes he may try correcting papers for college students.Take it hirer if he do not mind being his own boss, start with kiddy books and advance as topics come to him. Many people I know have problems with writing so congrat on your accomplishment and enjoy.

Gerry--his passion for life surrounds not only himself, but his family(and cohorts) as well. He's strict in his religion(which works for him), good to his friends...defender of (small animals doesn't quite fit here, unless they are star wars type,lol). Other than the not being able to drive(it has been recomended that he not bother trying, because of the adhd--his attention span for the road is extremely short)and wanting to stay in MN...well? He really wanted to teach high school, but his professors say to try jr college part-time, then write the rest.
I don't know, guess it's a "we'll see" kind of thing.

I don't know if this helps, but... if he's a fast typer, he could type up other peoples papers for them. Not do it for them just typeit up. People acctually pay for that kind of thing.

I have ADHD and didn't get my license until I was 19, and now that I'm 40, have just now started feeling like a grown-up instead of a child. It's been a struggle, to be sure. What has kept me going is finding a job that drives most other people crazy -- one with so many balls up in the air that it uses all our distraction to our advantage, by allowing us to switch tracks all the time. There are jobs out there like that, thank God. When he can find one like that (coordinating & multitasking iare the key words), he will gain confidence as he sees his weaknesses turned into strengths. If you've got a relationship with God, call on Him. He LOVES to help. He actually started me in a "lowly" clerk job that I found borderline insulting, but I humbled myself and it has flourished into an exciting career with untold income potential. I would never have thought of my career on my own, nor would I have applied for the job that got me there. God cares more about your son than you do yourself (doesn't change whether or not you believe), and has a specific intent/plan for him that is in his best interest. He wants to see your son thrive.

Managing chaos is a special talent we ADHD's have. It takes some honing, but once he gets the knack, he will absolutely blow people away and leave them dumbfounded what he can do. Trust me.

Do you think he would enjoy tutoring, like at Sylvan or something like that?

Or maybe he'd enjoy learning photography?
