So lately ive been totally obsessed with Indie Rock and unusual music groups who have songs written with deeper meaning and thought it would be a neat idea to start a thread where we can all introduce each other to our favorite or new and off beat music groups and bands.
I shall start with some of my favorite if not new groups ive recently become obsessed with.
Anna Nalick: Almost has a country feel but very angelic and soft and the songs are written with so much meaning and about things that alot of us can relate to.
Blonde From Fargo: My love and absolute adoration for Peter Stormare turned me to this group. If you dont know who Peter Stormare is just pick up a movie at you local rental place and hes bound to be in one of them. He was the blonde assasin in Fargo, Satan in Constantine, the Russian cosmonaut in Armegedon, and so on I love his Swedish accent which just rolls and purrs from his throat. The music is of course an aquired taste but the man IS dedicated to his music.
Cobra Starship: Only one song Ive really heard and love from the old members of "Midtown" for the movie soundtrack "Snakes on a Plane" which is also the title of the song.
Joshua Radin: One of his songs was recently in the movie "Serendipity". He is very love struck and a true romantic in song.
Mika: This man has amazing vocals and reminds me almost of a young Tim Curry in "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" with upbeat and lovely songs about life lessons and messages such as "Big Girl (you are beautiful)"
Plain White T's: They have a newer song called "Hey There Delilah" which I absolutely love and is always stuck in my head.
Portishead: One of my favorite groups which mixes a jazzy feeling with a deep female songstress and amazing turntables.
Regina Spektor: None of her songs make sense really but they are so beautiful none the less and I find myself making up stories of my own in my head with each and every song. My favorite of hers is "On The Radio".
So I admit some of these may be well known to many of you but they are some of my very favorite and off beat groups so check them out on I-tunes or online if you like and please share some of your favorites so that I may do the same.

I had also mentioned "Cold War Kids but it got deleted somewhere along the process. They have a great vocal range that you cant help but sway and bounce to.
The group sounds like an awesome idea I shall see what i can come up with!
I did a series of six podcasts with Josh Radin.. his music is quite etherial.. a few tunes are upbeat (these photographs) > Mika.. what a hoot and what a presentation.. his personality shines! Anna Nalick is on my podcast as the lead tune-- Breathe.. it's the thing that destresses me. I will check out Spektor and Portishead .. will check out Blonde from Fargo because I thought his portrayal of Satan was ' spot on'.. just freaking amazing..
well I best shut up.. I talk too much about music
I also have a love for the music and song with deep rooted messages but I like it up front. For the most part when I'm on Gather I have My space up going through the music of the friends there and would like to offer you the chance to look into it yourself. Just click on the play bar on my site and then look through the friends most are Groups click on the icon and lend them an ear. Its at : http://www.myspace.com/maxwins45
