Said one lover to another,
“I must now go Home.”
Yet her tender eyes were saying:
I’m afraid to go alone…
She was smiling as she started;
though she was near the end-
for she knew that in the other
she'd found a faithful friend.
One lover lay there dying
afraid but not alone.
The other sat beside her
to help find her pathway Home.
“I think that I can make it
across that unmapped land
if only I can feel the grasp
of your sweet and gentle hand.”
Said one lover to another,
“Then I will hold on fast.”
While his tender eyes were crying,
“You shall have peace at last,
dear one,
you shall have peace at last.”

The losing/loss of a loved one can often render us immobile and is more sad than could ever have been imagined...
