It is my pleasure to announce…drumroll please…the finalists for the first Gather Kitty Beauty Contest. There was a dazzling array of fantastic felines to choose from. Merlin is still recuperating from the task and he says they are all winners in his eyes.

There are four categories of finalists:

King Kitty of Gather

Queen Kitty of Gather

Prince Kitty of Gather

Princess Kitty of Gather

There are three finalists in each category except for Queen which has four finalists. Merlin, being besotted by all of them simply couldn’t decide! It’s a good thing he’s not voting for any of the finalists and neither am I. It’s all up to you folks now.

For voting purposes, each finalist has an assigned code number, i.e; K1. Please use it to vote in the comment box below. Voting is to take place for seven days from May 6^th to midnight May12th. Anyone can vote but voting is limited to one vote per category, per  person, per day of the seven days. Rating the article is not a vote.  With no anonymous ratings we avoid the unpleasantness of driveby 1’s which many of us have experienced in other contests. You can rate this article but it has no bearing on the final outcome. Votes will be tallied daily and an article will be posted daily with the results. The final votes will be tallied May 13^th and the final winners announced Monday May 14^th in an article with photos. Winners will enjoy their Royal feline reign for one year. Winners will receive a photo makeover and a fun creative photo montage of them. Here's an example of a montage with Layla, Coco and Merlin.

King Kitty of Gather finalists include;

Tibby AKA Tiberius (code K1)

Tibby lives a life of leisure with Krista P. He is a handsome fellow, named after a Roman emperor so it’s not a stretch for him to be King. This regal white and marmalade tabby is almost seven, old enough to have acquired the wisdom necessary for the Royal title.

Cheech Anton AKA Chairman of the Bored (code K2)

He lives in Pensacola Florida with writer Annina Anton. He is parttabby and part Siamese and all irresistible. He is the only finalist with blue eyes. For the first four months of his life, a poodle nursed him, which gave him a special understanding for dogs and other subjects.

Cujo (Code K3)

Cujo is an King-sized orange tabby born in May 2005 and lives with his mistress Wiaka’s just curious W. in Redding California. She found him in a shelter. He can be playful or regally elegant depending on his mood. It’s his birthday this month and he thinks winning this title would be the best birthday present ever!

         He wanted to comment directly. “I’m excited that I have a home,I do. I never knew my mother and was taken to an animal shelter. My new family has given me so much love. Even though I haven’t always treated them well, they are always nice to me and try to understand me. Even though cats can be independent , we need love too. So if you are lonely or not, check out a local shelter to adopt, you’ll find us shelter animals can give back a lot of love and nifty memories.

Gather Kitty Queens

Whiskers (Q1)

 This two-year-old noble gray tabby rules the roost at Eileen W’s in Lafayette Indiana. She would slip into her role as Queen as smoothly as a silky quilt despite her rough beginnings as a homeless kitten on the streets of Clarksville. She has no need to campaign or pander because she feels above all that commoner activity.

Baja (Q2)

This stunning tortie (tortoiseshell tabby) is almost five years old, which is old enough to have grown in Queenly wisdom. She lives with her devoted subject Jennifer F. in San Bernardino California. As you can see, Baja has a million dollar smile and is used to being adored for her Queenly qualities.

                                           Josie (Q3)

Our Grand Dame of kitties is a 12-year-old tabby who lives with La Lady Lisa Westerfield. She is old enough to know that she is kitty royalty. Enough said.

P.S. her mom says she smells of sunshine! 

Sophia (Q4)

This long-haired gray kitty has an elegant white bib and arresting green eyes who lives in North Carver Massachusetts.  She will speak for herself.

        “My name is Sophia and I am who I am… a young lady of wisdom and fortitude. I live lives with my mistress Elizabeth E. in a house in the woods. I’m up at the first dawn when the birds start to sing and wake my kind mistress as I prance on her back. She really likes that and murmurs my name and tells me I am her own masseuse and fur alarm clock. After, I run down the stairs as fleet as a doe with visions of breakfast mice and moles on my brain…

  The Princes

                                                   Dargo AKA Frufflebutt (P1)

This kitten has the makings of a King in a few years. In the meantime, he is a precious prince of a kitty. With those distinctive markings, his human mom, The KitchenMage thinks he is part Maine Coon but all adorable.

                                                       Otis (P2)                                                          

Our only purebred finalist is a gray Scottish Fold who lives in California. They have those cute little ears and round faces. His dad, Nippy Katz says Otis is a dork. From early on, Otis loved sleeping on his back. In this photo, Otis is seven weeks old and ready for his title as Prince or at least cutest kitty in the universe.

                                                            Jonquil (P3)

This sweet faced fellow is an orange and white tabby who hails from OrangeCalifornia. He lives with his devoted Tinch R. who found him fearlessly dodging traffic on a busy street. He adapted instantly to his new home that included other cats and a dog. In this pic, he is 8 weeks old and full of curiosity.

The Princesses

Opal (PS1)

This adorable kitty lives with Nippy Katz and Otis. In this pic, she is 8 weeks old and already poised with the composure of royalty. She has the princess wave down pat. her favorite treat is cheese or Devon cream.

                                                     BirdDog (PS2)

This gorgeous calico gal is 7 weeks old in this pic. She is a natural born charmer says grandmama Dannielle S. who loves Bird Dog and her three littermates equally. Most likely her name will be changed to something more befitting a princess.

                                                           Mugatu (PS3)                                                

This is a lovely tortie and Bird Dog’s littermate. She is a little more haughty and independent than her mates but at this young age she already has the grace and elegance of a Princess.
