Well I have had a busy morning. I went to a large rumage sale, the library book sale, and the Morro Bay Car Show. I am not a car buff, but it is a one of those days that I feel lucky to live at the beach. The weather is great and the cars were impressive.
The first show was in 1997 and had only 125 entrants but by 2004 they had over 500! There had to be at least that many there today. As I said, I am not a car person, but you can't help but be awed by the work that these people put into their hobby. There were those that went a little, no make that a lot crazy with their hot rods and other improments, but I think I enjoy the ones that are restored to as close to stock as possible.
I would love to put all of the pictures right in this article like I saw someone do from their article last week, but I have no idea how. (If someone does, let me know) I did upload some of them the regular way though.
The show covered blocks, blocks, and more blocks. It has the town in pretty much of a standstill. The entrants came from all over the US, I noticed one car from Ohio, for example.
I had a hard time taking pictures for two reasons today. One was my own fault, because I was there at the wrong time of the day I was fighting with shadows. The second was that people are getting down right rude! Remember the days that when someone saw you taking a picture the would stand back and wait until you had finished or get out of the way??? Those days are gone or at least they were today. Half the time people were even trying to pose in the pictures! I have no problem with the owners of the cars doing that, but just the passer by?!?!?
If you are a car freak, this event should definately be on your list of places to go. There city really puts out the red carpet and so do the vendors. Can we say full size Car Wax freebies and such!
And as a side note.....Morro Bay has something for everyone. Last weekend was a Kite Festival, next is the Jazz Festival.
