Queen Elizabeth the Second visits Virginia today

Queen Elizabeth the Second, arrived in Virginia today. The queen will also be with her husband, Prince Philip. They are coming to commemorate the 400-th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown.

They will arrived at the Richmond airport at three pm. Of course we are having cloudy 60 degree weather. Chances of rain as well. But tomorrow is suppose to be beautiful.

Then, they will make their walkabout to the capitol building about an hour later. If you are interested.Â This will probably be your best chance to see the queen. I wanted to go but am not able to. Even though I live in Virginia. Richmond is four hours away. And our poor old car would never make it to Richmond. lol I'll just have to catch all the updates on the news.

She will speak to the Virginia General Assembly later in the afternoon. Then head to Williamsburg.

The queen is also planning to meet with some of the families of victims of the Virginia Tech Tragedy.

Then she will be in Jamestown tomorrow, with Vice President Dick Cheney.

This is her first visit to Virginia in 13 years.

Well I give you a 10 for that!!! Why? I'm watching that Helen Mirren "QUEEN" movie on DVD with friends tonight. How nice of the Queen to come to the U.S. for that - for me!

I loved the movie The Queen. It was VERY interesting to see how "manners" and "protocol" worked in the situation of Diana's funeral. In America I just took the big public display of national (and international) grief for granted, thinking it was the obvious thing to do. Tradition (and most funerals depend on that) would have had a private funeral, not a "State funeral" for Lady Diana. It was Tony Blair who finally told the Queen to bend to the public hysteria and she finally did it reluctantly - not liking the idea of "breaking the rules". She's a Queen after all, not a punk rocker.

I would loved to of been there to see her, I dont live that far away but I couldnt make it.
