Oprah and Tommy Hilfiger

I was watching Oprah yesterday and she had a few things on there yesterday. What really stood out for me, was her interview with Tommy Hilfiger, and it's a shame that rumors get this far. I was one who had heard that years ago Tommy Hilfiger was on the show and he had stated that he did not make his clothes for anyone except for upper white people. I was one who had fell victim to this nasty rumor. I had stopped purchasing any of his clothes or products. Come to find out it was all a lie. A terrible vicious lie, that had hurt this mans sales and integrity. Oprah stated that before yesterday Tommy Hilfiger had never been on her show and she wanted to set the record straight. I am so sorry I was a part of this, but as an African American what was I to do?

No, I don't take it as a dis at all, unfortunately in my community we all fell into the trap. I am not proud of at all. I wish I could apologize in person because I am usually theone who says "HOW DO YOU KNOW FOR SURE." I teach my children don't beleive it unless you see it, so I had to set the record straight with them, because I went as far as not letting them purchase any of Tommy Hilfigers products. And yes while he uses different races of Models does not necessarily mean that a person is not predjudice. This world is about a dollar, so at the same time, if I did'nt like a certain type of people, and I was a designer, I would have the top of the charts modeling for me also.

I'm like Audrey L.C. I hate gossip....all it does is confuse people and hurt those who are innocent. I'm sure Tommy H withstood the rumors well but it still wasn't fair that it had to happen. BTW, now if I want to know the straight scoop I go to Snopes.com or I google some version of the rumor...usually that will lead me to some semblance of the truth and a reliable source and I can go from there!

Thanks so much everyone, for your support, I felt kind of funny for writing the article, but now I feel much better. I just know that normally I don't feed into rumors, I guess I just got caught in the race game.
