RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS

Today my husband came home early and asked if I would go get Chinese food for lunch. While in the shop , a hispanic man walks up to the counter and asks the chinese worker for credit. She is trying to tell him- no way, in her broken English. This is going back and forth for about 10 minutes. A woman comes up to the counter to pick up her order, she overhears what is going on between the hispanic man and the chinese worker.

She asks him what is going on, he tells her- she then hands the man 5 dollars for lunch. I was in the back of the shop sitting down, and I was amazed. That was a very nice thing she did. The man asks how is he going to pay back the 5 dollars since he does not know her- she responds pay it back to God, to do good.

That was a very wonderful woman. It must have felt really good to do this. I must be terrible, I just sat there and watched it all.

That is a very nice thing she did, it's unfortunate in our world but maybe the man was going through some rough times. It could have maybe made his whole month!

I know it made his day! I have given stuff to neighbors and friends, the military but never to a complete stranger face to face.

Yes, every once in a while a person witnesses one of these kind acts and it makes you realize there still are good people out there!! The world is not "all" bad!
It's hard for me to give to strangers, but that was a different situation. When I'm panhandled, I always assume they're going to buy alcohol or drugs, so I never give it to them. I'll buy a bag of fast food for someone actively hallucinating on a street corner, though.

I agree, it is hard to give to a complete stranger. I do donate, and alot- but it is always to Big Brothers, etc. Never to a person standing there.

Heartwarming story. Last year hubby and I were in a restaurant and a down and out lookin' guy came in. The waitress asked him what he wanted, he pulled some change out of his pocket and asked what that would buy, she said, "coffee and a donut". My hubby went to the counter, spoke with the waitress and soon the guy had a plate of bacon, eggs, coffee and biscuits and gravy in front of him. He said, "but, I can't pay for that!" To which she replied, "Don't worry an angel paid for it."

My angel hubby has a heart of gold...

That is so nice Amanda, I think in about a week is that food drive that the Post office does- I have a few things to leave out.

Donna, thanks for "reporting" this RAOK...! I love to hear about this sort of thing, and it gives us confidence in each other, our desire to do good, to be the best we can be... and it's really asking so very little. I hope we can all find ways to do this kind of wonderful act of unconditional love.

Donna, Thank you for sharing this inspiring story. I have done such things at the grocery store if someone is short. I love it when our faith in humanity is restored by a single act of kindness.

I helped out a kid once with my cell phone. I was a campground and he needed to call his mother. I told him he could use my phone-since the payphone was going to be about 5 dollars. Then he asked if I could watch his dog for a minute...it looked like horse! ....and I very nicely held on to the stranger's dog for him!..shaking in my pants!!- I have handed out free tickets to a RenFaire, Movies , extra coupons but I have never given any money to stranger.
