Crazy Bosses

There are good bosses, and then there are bad bosses.  Not just bad, says business humorist Stanley Bing, but crazy bad -- “Crazy Bosses,” as the Fortune magazine columnist calls his new book. On Point will talk to him about the book today at 11 am ET.

They come in many flavors -- The Bully,  The Paranoid,  The Narcissist,  The Wimp -- often, all rolled up in one high-paid, nasty package, says Bing. It may just be, he says, that our new, high-tilt economy is breeding pathology in the corner office, a contagion of kookiness, a fusion of flip-outs.

Have you had a crazy boss? How did you deal with him/her? Did you leave the job because of your boss? Do you know anyone who HASN'T had a crazy boss at some point during their career?

This is a wonderful conversation and brings to mind a Crazy Boss I've had; she's a Wimp-type with a Paranoid/Bully streak and her favorite phrases include "Let's circle up in a month and see if we can roll it out" and "This company is like an ocean liner; it takes time to turn it around." Argh! Her incompetence has made me want to run a business myself, partly to bring some justice around, but here's my question: How can I assure that I won't, myself, morph into a Crazy Boss when the opportunity presents itself?

How come there is no Podcast for this segment? I cannot stream the show either. I have always had an issue with WBUR's streaming. I can stream millions of other sites, whether it is with REAL player or other, but WBUR seems to be problematic

Paul. Looks like it was a little later than usual, but the podcast is there now. You can sign up for it on this page. And if you have streaming problems, I'd just call that station and ask to speak with the head of new media. The streaming seems to work fine where I am.
