Spring is breaking out all over. This week I found my bleeding hearts. The pink one is blooming but the white one is going to need more time. I have two tulips that are blooming. The rest of them don't seem to be doing much since they got bit by frost with the cold snap we had awhile back. Anyone else having this kind of trouble?
My rhubarb is going gangbusters and if I have the time this weekend, my coworkers just might get treated to a rhubarb crisp on Monday. If the timing works out. Someone suggested going back to the old Betty Crocker cookbook and substituting rhubarb for apples in the apple crisp recipe. I'll probably need to add a bit more sugar since rhubarb is so tart. I'll post the recipe if it turns out well. So, what's breaking ground in your garden this week?

Zillions of grubs encountered, debating whether to trap them or not, I've never noticed a problem with them. Any thoughts? I've heard a jar with some beer in it will do the trick, but I'm not sure there's a need. What preys on them besides birds?
Lots of cool spiders in the yard too. If they eat the grubs I'll let them be.
Speaking of bleeding hearts: I've grown the old-fashioned, the fringed, and the white varieties. Had good luck with all three for years until last spring, when only the white one came up. Do I blame the weather, a disease, or a certain someone who shall remain nameless? I'm putting in replacements this year. Are there new varieties? I cannot live without bleeding hearts.
Lovely pictures, by the way.
M M. I'm not sure about any new varieties for bleeding hearts. You might blame the weather but not so sure. I have the old fashioned and the white. If they ever come up with a purple I'm in trouble.
