Sometimes I want to use the same photo for mulitiple articles. But I don't want to upload the same photo each time and then have my photo page full of duplicate photos. Most blogging programs allow you to select from all your previously downloaded images, and add them to new pages. If Gather has a feature like that I haven't found it yet. I know I can host photos on a service like Photo Bucket and drop the code into each article, but that's hardly quick and easy. Maybe I'm missing something here?

I don't work for Gather, but the darkening of your images when you upload them is a known problem. I am certain that Gather is working on a fix. However, in the interim, you can fix this yourself if you have image editing software that allows you to change the image mode (RGB, Grayscale, etc.).
Here's how:
This requires image editing software, like Adobe Photoshop.
Upload the new image to Gather!

Unfortunately, you must upload images to each article individually (for now). However, images uploaded to articles do not also populate your 'photo page', so you don't really have to worry about duplication....just duplicated effort. ;-)
I have switched over (almost) entirely to HTML coding for article images, and it has saved me a lot of time and frustration.
