Each week (or so...) I select another member of our group to showcase on our site by making them a "Feature". This means that one of their works (I choose) will be shared with everyone along with a bio. Through this showcase, I hope you will learn something new about our SHINE members as well as support their creative efforts. If you would like to be featured it's easy: Join SHINE! And then let me know you want to be featured.
This weekend we say goodbye to Abhishek Sengupta, aka The Clown !. as we welcome our latest SHINE! Showcase: I am Magi - Nicholas is ignoring the bumble bee on his way to you. Her story may be familiar to you. She tells me that her bio information was “cobbled together from other articles” which have appeared on Gather.
I thought Magi was pulling my leg when she told me she lives in West-Oz. (Think Wizard of… Once again my geographical impairment is showing!) Magi 's location is Western Australia.
Born on Valentine's Day in Zaandam - Holland, Magi has three grown children and one little granddaughter. They all live Perth, Australia described by Magi as the most isolated capital city on earth!
To say that Magi’s body of work is impressive is a clear understatement! In my opinion, her writing is some of the most creative on Gather! When she submitted her information to me a while ago she had penned 166 stories and articles, and 144 poems and I suspect these numbers are already outdated! She says, “Gather consumes my spare time. Writing and interacting on Gather has also become a passion.”
She also has the distinction of having Winds, the first anthology of poetry of one student's work, published by her college. She says, “I have also written a trilogy of novels (some 232,000 words), doing so purely as an exercise in writing discipline - I simply haven't bothered with seeking publication of the trilogy.”
Hobbies? Photography and painting bisque ceramics in her back garden studio are among the things she enjoys. “As a break from writing and the humdrum of life, I like sharing a coffee with friends at cafes overlooking the Indian Ocean.” She also loves to ride her Moto Guzzi motorcycle throughout the countryside.
What might we find surprising about Magi’s contributions to Gather?? “I also made some 7,480 comments, averaging just over 20 comments per day for 365 days. Perhaps my long-suffering doctor had a point when he ordered me to cut back.”
Magi follows the teachings of A Course in Miracles® and says that “There is nothing that I still want but haven't done - I'm leaving that in God's Hands. He can write a far better script for my life than I can.”
And for some wonderful words from this mortal coil, enjoy Magi’s Smoke on the Water . I certainly did!
Best and keep shining, Pamela, Editor of SHINE...THE JOURNAL | Flash Literature, Poetry, Art and Photography!

Secondly, thank you very much everyone for coming along and sharing in this; and for your lovely and generous comments. They have touched me in the nicest way.
Thanks so much.
What a lovely insight into one of Gather's premiere writers. It is wonderful to read these little "behind the author" bio's. Keep it up.
Magi, you're awesome!:)
Namaste, my dear friend (I highly admire you, but you know this already)
You deserve this and so much more that life has in store for you
(Oh and it does)
Please direct me to where I can find this lil surprise you have been hiding in your pocket there within the rocks and plants:
Some 230 plus works of mine were published
I am so proud of you words cannot describe and when you (because you will) make it over to my neck o' the woods (-------> yes all the way over here or it might be this way <-------------------- not quite sure) you must come and say g'day.
*grin*
I will show how "nice" we are here in NY.
*laughing*
Now I want a coffee mug.
Oh . . . you are so one day getting called and interviewed . . .
Beautiful showcase Pamela!
SM: Sure thing!
Sue, thank you most sincerely as well. As to where you can my work of earlier years (there were actually over 250 items published); such is now lost to time. They are not archived by the Department, as far as I know, and I gave my copies to my youngest daughter many years ago - and they somehow got lost. What the hell! But there are 300 plus stories and poems of mine published on Gather, and these are all listed in a handful of tables of contents (consisting of hyperlinks) in the The Magi Cafe.
One day I will get to the USA, finances permitting, and I'll look you up to say g'day over many a mug of coffee and toasted Vegemite sandwiches. LOL
Congratulations on being featured in this Showcase - you surely deserve it and it's great to see another Aussie in the spotlight.
And Pamela, thank you for this, great work again in supporting and promoting Gather writers.
Thanks for your support and for your kind words.
Pamela, you are doing a wonderful job by bringing writers to our notice.
Finally, a huge thank you to you, Pamela.
