Spring has sprung and even the most domestically lax of us are starting to feel the urge to start spring cleaning. For some people, this job might take a couple of hours at the most, but for those of us who have neglected our homes since the fall - or longer - the job could be daunting. Here are some tips for spring cleaning success:
1. Make a list and check it twice. If you make a list of tasks you want to accomplish, you'll be more likely to actually do them.
2. Dress for success. Wear old, comfy clothes that you don't mind getting dirty or stained. Pull on a pair of rubber gloves if you will be working with harsh cleaning chemicals.
3. The Right Stuff. Make sure you have the necessary cleaning supplies on hand. Pack it all in a bucket or container to carry from room to room. Include two empty garbage bags; one for trash you'll pick up as you go and one for things you no longer need that can be sold or donated.
4. Make it fun! Open the windows (or at least the curtains), and put on your favorite upbeat music. The fresh air and sunlight will give you an energy boost and you'll accomplish more!
5. Aim high. Remember to clean in high places first and work your way down.
6. Store away your winter wear. Consider using large plastic storage containers to store away your winter clothes. As you pack your clothes, roll them instead of folding in order to eliminate wrinkles and save space.
7. Use it or lose it. If you haven't used something in the past year, it is likely you won't have any use for it this year. Throw away or donate anything that has just been taking up space.
What are you doing to get your home spring ready?
