I don't know if this helps, I might add that this is a time when we "glimpse" at these children who are no longer babies, and it is our turn to step back and let them grow. Each child has such a unique temperament, it is mindblowing what an imaginative, active child can come up with. As a parent we are often challenged with a steep learning curve on how to manage with patience, and we are also pushed to grow.
Setting boundaries helps, but when a child is a determined, active climber and swinger, almost no amount of preparation can keep mischief from happening.
As I am a mother to a self taught Drape Swinger ( Sheers - lightweight rods), I am learning about how physical my daughter's needs are - -having an outlet or time for ourselves as a parent certainly helps us pause and have more patience. Also taking a picture can completely remove you from the situation and let you see the humour.
Yes - potato bowling down the hallway is funny. Yes covering yourself, your sister and the entire bedroom floor in Vick's to skate in can be funny too. I'm still working on the humour in replacing the rod to my sheers for the 4th time.;)
