My cat Merlin, in his infinite wisdom has decided to host the first Gather Kitty Beauty Contest. He is very appreciative of all the gorgeous cats that have joined his group, Friends of Merlin. What better way to show his appreciation than to crown two special cats, "King Kitty of Gather" and "Queen Kitty of Gather" to reign supreme for 2007. Merlin, of course will not enter the contest but will remain the Grand Poohba Merlin the Magnificent, ruler of the universe or at least... ruler of Layla's household.
Contest Rules
Only cats can enter. Sorry, another contest is coming for dogs.
Post your most beguiling feline photo to the group, Friends of Merlin.
Leave a comment with the photo stating the cat's name, age and gender. You may also add other pertinent information as to why your kitty should win.
You may enter as many photos as you wish. If you have already posted a photo that you'd like to be considered for an entry, please either post it again or let me know by private message.
Deadline for posting is Thursday May 3, 2007.
There will be three finalists for each category (King and Queen) numbered 1-6. Those 6 finalists will be featured in an article with their photos and descriptions on Sunday May 6, 2007. Voting will begin on May 6th and will continue for one week until midnight of Saturday May 12th. The Judging of the finalists will be done by Merlin, his sister Coco and Layla.
The winning titles of King and Queen Kitty will be decided by members of Gather. Neither Merlin, Coco or Layla will cast any of the votes. Votes will be cast only by leaving the number of your choice in the comment box. ie; King #3.
Voting will NOT be done by voting for the article. This way we avoid the problem of driveby 1's.
You may vote for the article if you wish but it's not necessary.
The votes will be tallied on Sunday May 13, and the winners announced in an article to be posted on Monday May 14, 2007. The article will include photos of the new King and Queen.
The winners will also receive a deluxe photo make-over, the kind offered at the group, Your Favorite Pics.
Winners will be notified by private message prior to the posting of the winner's announcement article.

Our Opal knows she's the most beautiful cat alive. She's not arrogant about it. To her it's just a fact of life like the sun rising in the east. For a cat she's very gracious.

Faith, I'm glad about Bitty and Jim. It's sad task to do but must be done. Millions of cats and dogs are killed in shelters because of over population.
