Could part of that be argued based on whether or not you were a determinist? Strict determinists suggest everything is pre-determined and we rationalize to ourselves that we chose it in the first place. At that point what was ruled?

Little bit of both. If you are having a bad day mentally it often affects your body. And there are disorders of the mind that make people falsely believe their bodies are ill (hypochondria is one example.) But then when your body is not doing well it definitely affects your mental state and there are mental disorders that affect your control of your body.
They were both made to work together.

I have come to believe that the ultimate human quest is freedom, much of which means freedom from our bizarre emotional behavior. I believe that is a possible quest, but until once achieves success with it, the body (emotion) is almost totally in control.

I agree with you Gerry. I think it's a lifelong quest we must complete and is truly difficult. We are emotional animals, and its truly hard to seperate ourselves from our emotions.
