When I read about Mrs. Troxell, Mr. Z., Mrs. Hawkins, a young English teacher in China, or an experienced one in South Central Los Angeles, I was reminded of the teachers who touched me as a child. We have few greater responsibilities, and can give few richer gifts in life, than helping others find their way in the world. Those that do it, as our best teachers do, for hundreds of children, truly deserve our thanks.
Thank you for helping us remember how they have touched us.
