I am just so excited, I have to share this!
So... I make jewelry, which many of you already know. I am now featured on the website of one of the lampwork artists I buy from. I spend a LOT of money with her (ahem), and it's nice to have this page on her site!
So, please, if you like to look at pretty jewelry at all-- visit Sarah's site!
And now for the link to my very own gallery on Sarah's website ;-)
I'm so psyched about this! For ages, I've wanted to get more exposure for my jewelry, but I've been struggling with the confines of having to work full time while making jewelry "on the side," and selling only at local craft shows or jewelry shows at my home (which, by the way, I'm having another one in May).
I don't have the skills to take fabulous pictures and create beautiful, functional websites. If I did, I'd already be doing it. I can use Photoshop but I honestly don't want to use ALL of my free time for that (or even a little of my free time!!). I'd really rather be making jewelry, which is something I am truly passionate about. I'm sure that's obvious by now.
Anyway-- so I always teeter back and forth between the idea of hiring someone to create a website (at least a template) for me so that I can update it. Honestly, I don't feel like I'm "there" yet-- because, well, I don't know why.
I've had numerous friends and colleagues tell me I should try consigning. I have considered it, but to be perfectly honest, one of the greatest joys for me, and part of the process of making jewelry, is to see someone's face light up when they find "just the piece they've been looking for" or "a really special" piece. You can't GET that with a consignment shop. Even when someone buys something from my Etsy shop, I usually have an email exchange with the buyer.
Anyway-- buying Sarah's beads has become something of an obsession for me. Whenever she sends out an email talking about new beads, I rush to her site to see if there's anything I can't live without. Most of the beads I've purchased from her are somehow ending up in jewelry for my personal collection, rather than items I sell. I do have a few of her pieces in my shop, though.
Anyway-- her work is absolutely stunning and inspiring, and it definitely challenges me to create the best jewelry I can, to elevate up to the level where her beads lie. Her artistry is truly amazing to me, and I am proud and feel very privileged and grateful to be included on a tiny piece of her website!
