As mentioned in this article I entered both of our writing contests at school .... I won the Poetry prize, which shocked the heck out of me... honestly thought my short story was the one that would/should win..... but whatever :)
Nice to win, anyway ...and I figure the $100 prize can go right to my buddy at the used book store.... lots of Canadian novels I still need to read, since that's the area I've chosen to specialize in ...well, CanLit, KidLit and Creative Writing.... supposed to narrow that down some at some point, but I love em all so.................. (notice there's no mention of poetry in there?)
Poetry is still not my thing - but I am the winner of the Gordon Prize for Poetry none-the-less (and first runner up re: the Dennie Prize for Prose Fiction). I have certificates an' everything!
And writing credits, too, right?
