What would you do if...............

We no longer had the internet?

We did not have cell phones?

If we did not have television?

If we did not have a car to drive, no one does?

If there were no gas stations and oil to burn? 

If there were no airliner's or airplanes or any kind of aircraft?

 

 If you woke up tomorrow morning and found yourself back in time, What period would you want to end up in and why?   

If everything as you know it now ceased to exist and took you back in time. 

How would you cope, survive?  What would you do for entertainment

What kind of food would you eat, how would you fix, cook eat it.   

Would you try and find a way back to our century or stay there?

To your first question...Not really sure but one thing is certain...I would know who my neighbors were !!! and one thing I have learned as I have gotten older...you can never go back...things are never the same - that would not be a choice for me....

I would have to say 19th century,
I would be fine without a car, plane, train, cell phone, and Internet :)
I like to be by myself and I wouldn't have lots of bills to pay :)

I really don't want to go back in time because I have asthma and other health problems. I would probably be dead if I wasn't treated.

But, if I didn't have health problems, I would like to be in 1800s Europe, maybe England. I had a lot of family living in Somerset. I would hope that I would be at least middle class like most of my family, or even upper class like some of them. Maybe I can live in my rich great, great, great, great Grandfather's house or something, if we was really rich.

I would go to the late 1750.s out west. That is if I would know what I know now.I would work as a carpenter. Even in the wilderness you can find flint to build a fire. Trap game. Make a spear or bow and arrow. you can live.make clothes from skins.The only thing is if you got sick or needed a doctor. I would stay there.
I think I'd go back to the Depression times, as that's what both my parents, Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents grew up in. Other than medical care, that is, it was a slower, more trusting time, though a harder life. But I've heard so many great storys from my parents and other family members over the years that I'd like it then I think.
As for no internet, phones and all that - you don't miss what nobody has. Good question!

This is funny. I tell friends all the time I'm going to start a movement called 'Backwards Now', where we keep the best of now, but still go progressively backward to a certain time. I have a heart condition, so I couldn't go back without good healthcare, but I think I'd go back to nineteenth century Victorian London when classical history, esotericism and magic had made a huge comeback, yet scientific progress was being made. I think I would have made quite the Edwardian Dandy, given the right circumstances. And I never would have beat my wife or lover with a wormwood stick! That last, albeit perhaps to some unfunny, is a joke.

I'd want to go to Paris during the Impressionist period. I would try out all kinds of time periods and places if we had that ability.

I could probably cure Darlene's asthma (cured my own with nutrition!). Maybe I could help out 'Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman' way back when. I think it would be cool to accompany Lewis and Clark in their explorations. Any era that has minted gold pieces would be great. But I'd really like to go back to the '60's, because I love the music and I was only about 8 years old when it ended. Maybe the best solution would be to join Doctor Who in the time-travelling Tardis -- he always has some hottie companion, so I'd be all set! Thanks for the post.

I would go back to 1869 and 70's and be a pioneer, knowing a lot of herb lore and wood lore I would know a lot of things to care for ailments. Ashma was not a big deal then like now there was not so much pollution and smog to contribute to it. Cleaner air and healthier living would cure that.

I'd go to Paris in the early 1900's and live with the artists, the poets, the dancers, the writers and the singers. Watch the builiding of the Eifel Tower and drive around in thse cute early cars.

I don't want to go back. How about forwards to a simpler time after the oil runs out, but skipping all the "how are we going to cope" times in between? Not sure any times are better or worse; just different; so maybe I'll stay here. I should probably just do something totally unexpectedly and unpleasantly fatal if I woke up anytime else.

There are many aspects of the 1800's I would enjoy living IF I was in England and had enough money to not be in a poor house. I would not enjoy the lack of dental and medical care. Just think how many times you use an antibiotic to cure an infection or how about diabetics dying young because insulin hadn't been invented. In many ways, the lack of "current problems" would be refreshing but there would be a lot of negatives to any age. However, if I had NEVER BEEN ALIVE now and that is all I knew, I guess I would manage.

I'll stay right here in this time and place, thank you. Did you notice that most people said they would go back to (fill in the blank) IF... I think this is a most wonderful time to be alive. It would certainly be fun for me to go back to many different times for only a few days IF only I knew I could come back to this time and place.
