Two very different female characters (played by Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet), in two different countries, for two different (though slightly similar) reasons, exchange homes for a two week vacation. The story that unfolds is both intriguing and exciting. Both of these heart-broken women have very different personalities and must “get-away” from their current situations at home. Jude Law who is always exceptional, proves yet again, that he can in fact act. I loved his character here, and thought he and Cameron were completely believable as Amanda and Graham. Kate Winslet who plays Iris was actually pretty good (I typically am not a fan of hers) and Jack Black never once fell into his “typical ridiculous comedian” role, he actually acted pretty well, I was very surprised. While parts of the story were your typical romantic comedy type fare, I felt the story and acting were both smart and never really became the “generic cookie cutter” romance. Each character had his/her own story and quirks, and there were even a few surprises which I found to be heartfelt and touching. I definitely recommend this film to anyone who enjoys the romance/drama/comedy genre. While it may feel just as good as most others, I think many will be surprised at how it manages to stand apart.
I gave this movie 4 out of 5 stars.

The movie was funny, touching, real etc. And for Jack Black to have such a romantic part was good to see. He was almost "hot" in the movie....LOL
