My husband is convinced that all natural forms of medical care are more productive than contemporary ways. He believes in herbs, meditation, acupuncture, and the power of natural healing. He is not fanatical about it and he will take medication if nothing else seems to be working, but only as a last resort. Are there others out there like him that believe people are overmedicated with things that don't work or that have side effects worse than the original problem?
Of course, my mother is a nurse and believes that some of his ideas are down right crazy and that he suffers sometimes unneccessarily. I have mixed feelings and would love to hear other people's points of view on this topic. It is sure less expensive to go all natural, but not at the expense of my health. What do you think?

There are also side affects to herbal remedies - we can pretty much be allergic to anything.
We did, however, lower our cholesterol naturally instead of going the "Lipitor" route.
One thing, many people are on the blood thinner - coumadin - don't use cranberry juice with that, it's just one of the many things I mean. Rx's and either herbs, natural juices, etc's DO have interactions.
Audrey - Garlic? That's part of a lowered cholesterol diet, and since we love it, it's even better. I use it in lots of food dishes.
Thanks for posting this here, Karen.
Oh, if you're using therapeutic grade/organic herbs or essential oils, don't really expect anything to be cheaper - some of the oils are over a thousand to several thousand dollars AT WHOLSALE pricing (I know this from when I had my website as I carried them), so going all-natural doesn't necessarily mean you'll save a dime.
Does anyone know a good herbal cure for boils?
To draw the infection out - boil chamomile (german) herb, flowers in water - let it get down to warm, put the herb, packed on the boil and overnight, it can help draw out the infection. That's one. Tea tree and lavender essential oils, (two drops of either or one of each) on the affected area might help as well - the propertys in the oils are what does it.
Always do a patch test on the inside of your arm, halfway between the wrist and elbow, prior to use, just to make sure you're ok with these - also, if any redness develops from the patch test - don't use them. Hope that helps.
