The day zoomed by quicker than I had time to count my blessings or gripe too much. I got up, drank my two cups of coffee, ate my oatmeal and cantelope, took my uphill walk, went grocery shopping, passed the broom around the house and gave it a bit of a dusting. I then began my work of transcribing tapes and going over photographs for my next book. After a few hours of that, I decided just to sit out in the sun and gel. So I took out the books I checked out from the library yesterday.
I'm reading three good books now, The Interruption of Everything, by Terry McMillan. This is a book all you women who are about 45 and about to enter perimenopause should read. It will make you laugh. You need to laugh. Hormones are crazy. Take it from me. However, I can guide you through a painless "change" - in the meantime, go get the book. Another good one that I checked out was Suzanne Sommers, Ageless. She and I sort of think alike but I knew this stuff all my life. She's just learning it and writing about it and well, what can I say, she looks dynamite. The third book is a book of photographs by Dorothea Lange. She is one of my favorite photographers. The book is entitled Impounded and it's black and white photos that Ms. Lange took of the Japanese American Internment during the 1940's.
I sat out there watching my doves and other birds enjoying all the seeds I put out for them and relaxing in the Santa Ana winds. Also, I found the tiniest baby possum and with gloves placed him in the very back yard in the Ivy. I hope his mother is still hanging around. He must have gotten lost. I watered my plants then put my beans on to boil.
We had red kidney beans, brown rice, mustard greens and cornbread tonight instead of Monday. So, that was the extent of my day. Not that exciting but I was blessed with loads of sun. What did you do today? Now, I'm having a glass of merlot. Thanks for joining me. Salud.

My son had a court hearing on the coast re: his parenting plan so had contact with him and his attorney to work out the next steps. When the 2 older kids got out of school, we went on a 2 hr walk along a local bike trail, then wandered in the nearby woods. They thought that was a great adventure and we managed to see a couple bunnies. This evening a friend took me out to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. Tomorrow I baby sit until 2:30 PM and then go to work at the hospital until midnight. Have had the last 10 days off so am not too anxious to go back to the salt mines.
My poor yard is blown away! If things die down tomorrow I'll be busy cleaning up. I caught my patio umbrella before it blew away!
Thank you for sharing your day.
I was up at 5 and drove Gaelic to the train station. He had come home the night before when I emailed him at work and told him I had to get the Bradley pictures up and I didn't know how to do it. After dropping him off at the train, drove over to Mom's (she lives across the pond from me) and woke her up, made her breakfast, and got her dressed for the bus that takes her to her "club" on Tuesday and Thursday. Club is really a day care for senior citizens.
Once Mom was picked up by the bus, ran off to school and did some prep for the day. Morning kindergarten went well...thank goodness...because it was an "observation day" for me. But my principal seemed really pleased with the reading and writing of my charges. At lunch had an IEP meeting about one of my students...then the afternoon people arrived. At 3:45 left school and ran home...took a power nap from 4-5...up again, over to Mom's to feed her dinner...back home to feed Papa dinner...a little time to Gather and then I turned on Fox News, that terrible conservative program. I can't stand Bill O'Reiley...but my niece, Susan Church, who is a lawyer defending the New Bedford illegals, was being interviewed....must say she did a great job. Then I gathered some more and went to bed. No wine for me...just sweet sleep! That was my day.
I had a can of pears and two oranges for lunch and now I'm off to walk some hills.
Miz Wilma - it's been so nice having you hear and I love your comments! Thanks so much! Salud.
I'll get in a nice evening stroll later.
Have a great weekend!
I waited on him several times. The owner of the restaurant would spaz out, so I was turned off by the abuse I would receive from the boss when he came in.
Silly, I know!
Well, anyway, the librarian gave me a huge container of maple syrup that her friend tapped from Vermont. I can't wait to try out some recipes.
Good luck with the baby oppossum.

That took an hour and half. Then, I visited this elderly man from Portugal, who owns a small store, and we talked for awhile about how as a child he would sell salt door to door from the back of an oxcart. I will write about him one day, The Salt Seller's Son. I read some on Gather, answered a few emails, and went to the store. I picked up my cigarettes, hamburger, and milk. I believe in keeping healthy.
Miz Jennifer the hub said it wasn't Santa Ana winds that they were blowing from the West - and they were cold winds ...
Anyway have a great Friday Night. Salud.
Miz Roxanne - what's this Gator stuff? thanks for dropping by - I love angel hair pasta - not clam sauce but it all sounds good. Salud.
Miz Judy - I love the fact that you have chickens - sounds like every day is a busy day for you - I went by the Mariana rock today and didn't see any ice plant message but the tides were pretty high with the winds yesterday. What did you leave actually?
Salud.
And that housework thing...here's our agreement my husband and I share: if it's bothering YOU...then you may clean it! When it bothers ME - then I will clean it. (we have great tolerance, he and I) thankfully, he is an amazing housekeeper, when he gets to it...and an even better cook. So, the rolling dust buffalos arising from a hefty Golden Retriever and 2 house cats usually reach out and grab our toes most days - - but our little 975 sq.ft. house is a warm little home. Ah, Mariana - - maybe the fairy dust-bunny will visit you on your birthday = ) Have a wonderful weekend - enjoy the sunshine on your toes.
It sounds as if you've had a full and wonderful day. Your image reminds me (for some reason) of the "Uncle Wiggly" child's game circa 1950s. Maybe it is the curvy road. I wonder if anyone else remembers this game.
Have fun!
Cheers,
Colonel Possum
Have a great day! Blessings.....JGill
Bob - thanks bunches - I didn't know.
Colonel, awwww I love that - such a neat thing - now I have to figure out what you're talking about - Miz Judy seems to know. Ok back at both of you. Love the new Icon Miz Judy. Salud.

I love that you took care of the babies after the hurricane. awwww so sweet...I am glad to know that they can last on similac and ground up peanuts...as I'm always finding babies...love the names of your possums - awwwww...so precious. I would have chosen those names too - ok well I'm gonna sent this your way too! Salud
