Islamic Radicalism: The New Euro Bully

Europe is reacting with fear to Islamic radicalism. Too many people want to bend to the will of the radical because they fear them Standing up to a bully is the way to insure that they eventually leave you alone. Bowing to their will insures that you will continue to do so forever!

The following story froma German news source points out exactly what i am saying:

Merkel warns of the dangers of self-censorship as Mozart production is pulled for fear of Islamist reaction.

The Berlin opera house Deutsche Oper has cancelled a production of Mozart’s Idomeneo following suggestions that it might pose a security risk. The announcement on 25 September was the latest development in the controversy surrounding the production, which featured a scene in which the severed heads of Mohammed, Jesus and Buddha were brought onstage. Chancellor Angela Merkel was critical of the decision and urged the opera house not to resort to self-censorship out of fear. The offending scene was added to the opera by the production's director, and had come under criticism since its premiere in 2003 as potentially offensive to Muslims in particular.

"the offending scene was added to the opera by the production's director" why may i ask..? u see the problem here is that German or European politicians are unwilling to stand up to radicalism and that people think it is ok to knowingly instigate hate. why else would anyone add "offending" scene when it is clear that it is "offending"

All over the EU the governments are bending to the threat of riots/protests/ & law suits about religious bias from the Islamic radical sector.

I believe it was meant to say 'the scene in question'. That was a very big story last fall. In this opera by mozart there is a scene where the protagnist meets with all of the heads of the worlds religions. Literally, just their decapitated heads. The Germans were afraid there would be a repeat of the violence that followed the cartoon of mohammed. Even though the scene had decapitated heads of jesus and moses as well. The fear was that it could be construed that showing the decapitated head of mohammed would create a firestorm, as people might feel that mohammed was insulted by showing just his head.

While I believe that no one should be deliberately crude or insitive to ethnic or religious sensibilities like American shock jocks and some right wing political commentators do regularly, I also believe that people should not be supersensitive when it is done. I also believe ther are people who just love to run out in the street and raise hell because it gains attention and is probably fun

Considering it is blasphemous to moslems to portray mohammed at all, and not the others, that is why there is no fear of backlash from Christians and Jews, who have no such religious beliefs, but I think there is something to what you say Donald. These places that bend to Sharia law are cutting their own throat. If you immigrate to a country you have to be willing to live under their law, or go home. To self censor a production like this, sends the wrong message, possibly. I don't really have enough info to know. If they did it out of fear, and not out of sensitivity to their religious beliefs, then it is definitely wrong.

I was watching the Canadian channel the other day, and their was a Islamic College student on the program because she was suing the university. Because they had not provided separate gym area's for them to play ball. They don't provide separate areas for any other religion, why do these people feel that they should be treated special. They will say they aren't "terrorist" but they use the fear of "Terror" to get what they want. I say we should say no, if they want to live somewhere other then their own land. Follow the same rules or go back home!!!
