Hiking Collection - Pieces of the Natural World & a Bottle

Hello to all,

We find all sorts of interesting things when walking in the woods. They find their way to this shelf. Elks tooth, mule deer jawbone, nineteenth century bottle from a trash pit, empty turtle shells, a cherished ammonite fossil, other assorted fossils, a bird nest, hawk feather, snake skin, rusty square nail from an old cabin and lots more. The background is my first oil painting that commemorated one of our Colorado vacations.

I can't resist picking stuff up when we walk through the woods. It ends up in all kinds of neat places. You have quite a collection.

Nice collection. We have a collection as well. One of our favorite places to hike in the spring is along the banks of the Ohio river. After the water has risen and receded, you find all kinds of strange things.

I never realized that I also have a natural collection of sorts. I guess I should gather it all together and make a shelf area for it. There isn't many pieces, but they each have an interesting story. Nothing as exotic as many of your pieces, though.

Wayne, I absolutely love this. We collect the same kinds of things, but have never displayed them so beautifully. Do you feel the spirit of the place when you pick up each piece? I know I do.
