We have been in need of a larger vehicle coming up here real soon (by 07/07/07!) and have been praying and searching for the right one for some time. Now we are on a tight budget (who isn't who has 3 kids with another on the way?) and so have narrowed our searchings to a used, but reliable, preferably van. I like the Honda Odyssey, but some of the newer ones are out of our price range. We want to pay down with as little owed possible on a loan.
Now, here's the scoop (this article, by the way, was triggered by Lori Cee, thanks, Lori!):
A friend of ours moved to Alaska back in February. They had bought a brand new '06 Nissan Quest a year before moving. When they moved, they could only fly in and out of the city they moved to. So, they could not take their van. They tried selling it, no one bought. After being in AK for 2 months, we received an email from them stating they wanted us to HAVE their van. Not a penny asked for it. Floored, we continued to pray, seeking God's direction concerning this. We didn't want to jump into a decision just because they were some of our dearest friends.
After 5 days and still seemingly no closer to a definite yes or no, hubby's mom called, asking for a loan to help purchase a car for her. Her's had broke down and would cost more than she had to fix it. Upon consideration of her need, hubby and I discussed it, prayed about it and realized this was affirmation for us to accept the van and give our car (paid off for 3 years) to his mother.
This all done, she has a good, reliable car now; and we have a brand new van! Now, I am not saying all this to boast on myself or my hubby or even these friends. Only on the Lord and what He did to meet our needs! He has proven Himself in many ways, and this is just one of the most recent and biggest ways yet in our lives!
You may read this and think there still is no God, but you can't disprove it in my heart! What a mighty God we serve!!!!!

I do believe that if you give...eventually you will receive and I do believe that God works for all of us when we least expect it.
I have had times in my life when we were down to our last bit of change in our piggy bank and rolling pennies for gas and not knowing what our family of 6 were going to eat for dinner that night and low and behold, a neighbor comes over with food that they don't want or some random thing happens.
It is real strange how things turn out.
And on Sunday at church...believe me when I say that there are times that we only have a handful of change and we put half of it in the offering plate and things happen for the good.
We do not have much to give abck, but we give all that we can. Whenever I see someone throwing out something good on bulk day, I pick it up, clean it up and give it to friends or family, or I pass it on through the freecycle list. Just recently a man came by to pick up a writing desk for his son, that I had found, and I was so happy that he could use it.
I really do believe in giving what you can, and since we are not able to make monetary donations to any non-profit organisatons, I instead gather together all the coupons I do not use and send it off to Military families, who can use these six months after their expiration dates. I also make sure to get all the free pet food that I can by using free coupons, and then I give it to the local pet rescue center together with all he other pet coupons.
Although you do not have much, there is always ways in which you can give back to the communities, and to other people who needs help, and your car example is an excellent proof.
I recently experienced a blessing, too. My husband has been out of work since January. But even before he was let go, I was trying to sell some items to make up enough money for rent, as they had cut his pay. I was trying to sell a large item and posted the info to a group online that I am a member of. A lady from the group contacted me and she asked for my address. I didn't really know anyone in the group - only talked on the message board once in a while. Once she got the info from me, she sent me $200 to help us out. Then a week later, she sent us all the money she had in her wallet (about $40). Her faith and her listening to God has caused her to reach out and help us when we were in need, and we have since become friends.
There have been many times the Lord has come through for us, just because we stepped out on faith. I hope your story helps others to do the same.
Hubby's mom is enjoying the car and we can see how the Lord has worked in her life since receiving it.
