I recently saw the movie, Pursuit of Happyness. I loved it. As a teacher, I am excited to someday share it with my students. This story is one of perseverence, that my children should acknowledge. The story of Christopher Gardner inspires in me, the desire to be the best parent I can be, as well as the drive to go after what I want. I was impressed with Will Smith's ability to play such a serious role, as I am used to him playing Will, on the Fresh Prince of Belair. Kudos to his son, who did a stellar job in his debut performance as a young actor. The Pursuit of Happyness is a story of acheiving more than is required, and touches a parent's heart. We have all been in the position as parents, where we are heartbroken for not being able to give our children all that they deserve. Go see it, rent it.
PS I think that the movie was better because I went with a great date, whose hand I got to hold the whole time.

All of us with children constantly suffer from the real and imagined pain of our mistakes, and this movie shows us not only the triumph of a fathers spirit but that the most important gifts we give our children is ourselves and our love.
It was emotional, but there was enough humor to keep it from becoming depressing.
I also enjoyed the special features on the DVD-- Gardner really is an amazing man.
