Each player of this game starts with the 6 weird things about him/herself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 6 weird things as well as state the rules clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says you are tagged in their comments and tell them to read your blog (or article).
1. Enrique Iglesias is my second cousin. We have never met, but his Mum (a Preysler - Julio's first wife) is my Dad's cousin. I think he's my second cousin... maybe he's my third...?
2. I have a chronic fear of sharks. I saw 'Jaws' when I was seven years old, and it has affected me ever since. I used to believe sharks were everywhere and even found myself freaking out in swimming pools. Sometimes I thought they would attack me while I was sitting on the toilet. I even thought a dorsal fin would appear between the floor boards of my Grandma's house, burst through the wood and eat me. I hold an advance open water diving certificate from PADI, but I still am very wary of the deep ocean....which kind of explains why I haven't been diving in 6 years.
3. I can't whistle. Tried. Tried very hard. Tried my whole life. Can't.
4. I can't blow bubbles with bubble-gum. Tried. Tried very hard. Tried my whole life. Can't.
5. I was College Captain of my high school. I was voted the school leader by my peers at St. Patrick's College, Strathfield in Sydney, despite not playing rugby or cricket, which were the true popular 'manly' games of heroes, and the usual prerequisites of previous captains. I instead played in the College band, starred in the school plays, organised dances, played in my own bands, sang in the choir and played basketball. (I used to play goal-keeper in my class soccer team until we lost 19-0).
6. I played 'Angel' in RENT. People assume that when they learn I was in RENT, that I played the rocker 'Roger'. The fact is, when I did RENT in London, they cast me as the transvestite 'Angel'. I loved it, and I loved 'her'. Not the prettiest girl you've ever seen, but great legs.
Now for the six I tag:
1. Claire S. Mudd
2. Penny G.
3. Dorian C
4. Paula N.
5. David Martin
6. Lily K.
Good luck, oh fellow weird ones.
Always love,
MiG

Rent is one of my favorite musicals. Playing Angel must have been great...it is wonderful part. It is one of the few musicals I could see many times and enjoy it each time.
Re: 2. You made me laugh about the sharks, because I could actually feel what you were feeling as a child since you describd it so well. Not laughing at you, I'd be scared too. That film had a powerful effect on people and at 7 years old, I'm not surprised that you've carried that with you.
Re: 3. and 4. Not exactly sure why you can't whistle, or blow bubbles, but I have an idea it is the same reason you can sing so well. The structure of your jaw and how you place your tongue.
I can do both and sometimes I can even trill (several notes at the same time
when I whistle) which surprises me.
Re: 5. That's a great accomplishment MiG. But you are ever so humble with that note about being goal keeper for your soccer team.
Re: 6. Your makeup looked better in Femmes, but your legs always look good. I've seen the film and that is a great role. Very emotional and brings great feeling for Angel from the audience.
I think you did a great job of telling us six weird things.
LoL, and you tagged me!
off to write mine then, though i dont know if i can narrow it down to just six, im QUITE WEIRD myself!
2. sharks! be careful they do come to So Cal!
3. i cant whistle either, your not alone!
4. blowing bubbles is over rated anyways
and
6. great legs yes, but as my kids said when they saw your picture as angel, "now, thats just wrong!"
Hey, "Jaws" did me in too. I read the book first and was so freaked by it that I wouldn't go see the movie until years later when I was on vacation on the Isle of Wight. It still freaked me out.
Pretty good with bubble gum though!
1. When you're Filipino, isn't almost EVERYONE your cousin? Haha!!
2. Jaws, yes that kept me out of the water too...well, that and the fact that I can't swim (one weird thing about ME).
3. "You DO know how to whistle, don't you (MiG)? You just put your lips together, and blow." (Mae West) Haha
4. I can actually blow a bubble within a bubble!! Yes, I'm quite talented.
5. "Captain my captain!" (Dead Poets Society) I played soccer in High School too...still have my letterman jacket.
6. RENT...the musical is coming to Seattle in May, I almost won VIP tickets at my daughter's school auction but I was out-bid at the last minute!! Now, if YOU were playing Angel I would have made sure not to leave the bid card out of my sight and hover over it until the bidding closed!!! Yes...great legs indeed!!
The question is how would you look in fishnet stockings!!
No matter if it's second or third, having Enrique Iglesias as a cousin can't be too bad.
As for 'Jaws'. I really liked the movie, but I wasn't too thrilled with going in the ocean for awhile after seeing it! I still keep an eye out for that fin moving towards me. (But only in the ocean!)
Sounds like you were really busy when you were in high school. A late congrats on being the College Captain!
I'd say the answer to that question is...HOT!! Have you seen the photo of MiG as one of the Bohemians when he was in the ensemble case of We Will Rock You (before he played the lead as Galileo)? MiG completes the look with SHORT shorts, combat boots, a Sex Pistols t-shirt and a bit of make-up!! Damn...how do you post photos on gather comments?
Thanks for playing MiG and showing us your human side!
On a lighter note.....whenever I ask my children, what does a shark say...they'll say, "Da na, da na, da na, da na".
1. I'm a HUGE fan of science fiction, love Star Trek, Dr. Who, Farscape & Firefly.
2. I've meet dozens of celebrities, but most notably. Dr. Whos Troughton, Pertwee, Baker Davison Baker & McCoy.
3. I'm a huge fan of classical singing - opera, recitals and concerts.
4. I got to NYC once or twice a year for the classical music. :D
5. I love 19th Century victorian novels, the longer the better.
6. A friend once told me that "you have nothing even faintly recognizable as atheletic ability."
There you go.... :D
Wendy
Great list! I think we need a pic of Angel's legs!
