I found a boyfriend at a garage sale once. He was buying a bunch of crappy old paintings for the great frames. I wanted the same paintings so I could cut them up for collage. We made a deal :}

Hubby came home with an old childs rocking chair today for 5.00. Very well made, it could last another fifty years or more. Last summer Bought a water pump for 1.00 still new in the box; came home and looked up the brand name on line and was worth 135.00 Now I would love to be one of those people that bought that painting that was worth thousands or even millions..or the costume jewelry that turn out to be rare stones and worth millions but nope..I don't think I have an eye for it so I wouldn't reckonize it even if I saw it.
I found some great finds while living in Arkansas. I bought a beautiful bowl for $5. I knew it was a find. Come to find out it was from 1863 and in mint condition. I sold it on Ebay for $193.
Most of my finds in Arkansas were a dime or a quarter. I miss that. I have a tabletop small pinball machine that is worth about $136. I paid a dime or quarter for it. I love garage sales, estate sales, and moving sales. They are my passion. But I've never had the luck here that I had in Arkansas.
I found an antique beveled, framed mirro in EXCELLENT condition, bought it for .50......saw the exact same thing at an antique store priced @ $350 :))))
Yeah, he was a pretty good boyfriend. He was cute and softspoken and good in the sack, but alas, we had too many personality differences. I hope he found someone nice to marry because he was a really nice person. And he only cost me $4! and I got a dozen canvases to boot!

My husband has more luck than me, too. Why is that? My husband got one of those big, rolling, metal tool cabinets from Snap-On (Snap-On no less!) at a yard sale for $30 bucks. And there was a set of new sockets still tucked in the back of a drawer. Is it that chicks don't know the value of stuff like tools? I think so.
In the past I used to find some really great jeans and shirts for anywhere from $.25 to $2.00 an item.
I have a cradle right now that is VERY nice, sister in law bought it for $25 with a bouncy seat and bedding set for the cradle, with a couple of small toys included. All of them were like new.
I have not gone to garage sales in over two years, but last summer Hubby and I had a sale that lasted two days and made almost $600 just selling extra junk we no longer used.
I got a Sage fly rod with all accessories for $3.00 and sold it for $250.00, a new leather jacket for $5.00 then found it in a catalog at $150.00. I also found a wood lathe, with extra mounting tools, chisels and parts book for $ 90.00, a new in box electric chainsaw for $15.00. My wife came home with an old table lamp, while cleaning it up we found a tiffany label, I asked her if there was a shade with it and she said "Yes, but it's so dirty I left it in the Jeep." Needless to say, THAT was the tiffany part and it sold for $175.00 at auction. Lot's of bargains, but lots of miles looking for them too.
Wow you all are bargain hunters. I racked in the toys and clothes when my kids were babies. Got all the little tykes slides, doll houses, kitchen sets, etc. for less then half at the store. Clothers and household items are good too.
Countless books, and notably a collectible and rather rare 1992 copy of Stephen King's The Dark Half PC game.
I can't run the game on any of my desktops or my new laptop, but it probably will run when I get the old Thinkpad back from PC repair. (This will be my son's PC so hoping to load some games on for him)
I bought a caviar-bead bag circa 1950's for .50, worth about $100 according to TIAS.com.
Have picked up the jello molds I took a picture of, a spode demitasse cup, an old percolator that I sold the parts for on ebay for $10.00 (the percolator said free!), and lots of little odds and ends. I usually pick up my books at garage sales, read them, pass them along, or sell them as a lot on ebay.
