"I began playing the piano at age seven, but was quickly discouraged by my teacher, who informed me that without practice, I would never become a virtuoso. However, a chance meeting with a jazz musician opened up a world of possibilities! I was finally able to play the music I wanted, in the style I chose. I even wrote my own songs and played piano without having to perfect my Mozart! Who cares if I was never going to be a concert pianist? Stick that up your metronome, I was going to be a ROCKSTAR!"
- MiG

MiG figured out pretty early in life that he was going to become a rockstar. But as you can tell, the road to success is not easy. What if MiG had taken his piano teacher's discouraging words to heart? Then we wouldn't have the rockstar we know and love today!
Have you ever been the underdog? We all hear doubting voices, whether from others or from ourselves. It takes real courage to listen to your heart, to overcome the doubt and decide, as MiG did, "I am going to be a rockstar!"

What is your Rockstar Moment? Tell us, and you could win an Epiphone guitar, autographed by MiG himself!

I hope a lot of people enter!!!
I'm new here to Gather, and so far looks like a great place to be. I love Mig and his music. When I heard about the contest I was excited, but unsure.
This may be a question for Mig, but does the story have to be about "music" only or any type of "adversity" one has overcome?
My few attempts at being a Rockstar faded long ago, but the adversity has continued and it ain't over yet baby!
I'll check back before I bore the audience to death ;)
Namaste'
Hopefully someone will let us know soon.
Just to clarify, yes, your "Rockstar Moment" can include a wide range of moments or experiences that have nothing to do with music. We're looking for stories of people who overcame personal obstacles and challenges - maybe it was the day you completed a marathon or stood up for something you believed in - being a rockstar can take on many forms. We look forward to reading your stories in Gather's Music Essential.
I need a new guitar, especially this one soo hey, or should I say please!
Thank you,
Sincerely I remain,
