Hello Group!
Earlier this week I had the distinct pleasure of speaking in Boston. My topic, "The Customer Is (not) Always Right - How To Deal With Difficult People" was presented on behalf of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation.
Although I speak all the time, this was my first time speaking before this group of restauranteurs, hotelliers, service persons, culinary school educators, students and others. New England Foodservice & Lodging Expo & Conferences 2007 :: New England Foodservice and Lodging 2007
It was an opportunity to share with a group that is always looking for information on customer service. The delivery of great customer service is often hampered by the angry customer so everybody needs some help in this regard.
My presentation/facilitation (and there IS a difference) focused on both verbal and non verbal cues, the internal and external customer, rewarding excellent service and why complaints can be good for a business.
This was also an opportunity to look at the presentation pointers I have shared with you all. I find they are accurate as are the comments and suggestions by those of you who have responded to that article.
Although I'm a seasoned presenter, I am always looking for ways to improve my work, to engage the group and to make it fun. Based upon the first " reviews" that was accomplished.
I have added a new "thingy dingy" to my arsenal of speaker tools. My husband bought me a remote tool which allows me to advance my power point slides from most anywhere in the room to a maximum of 50ft. This is important because I despise standing in one place as I deliver and because of this little tool, I don't have to. Sometimes when I go to a location, they may or may not have this remote. Now I have my own!!
I had a delightful time with this group; they had as much to offer me as I did to them! I am very fortunate. Special Message For MA Restaurant Assoc Attendees.
Hope this finds you all well.
Best,
Pamela
