And yet somehow I see very little difference. Aren't the power suits, imported shoes, and briefcase the typical camouflage for whoever is playing executive that day? I guess the difference is the moth's decision to take that first important step out from behind the camouflage. And the moth has the advantage of instinct, that wonderful unerring gift from nature.

Pam, interesting comments. I actually did reflect that in some ways the executive was also hiding and camouflaged. Simplicity, unadorned and undisquised are relatively rare in our human culture. Finding those qualities in nature is often far easier.

I especially like this phrase:

"The courage it costs to leave
camouflage behind?"

It associates courage with our daily lives, not just with military or heroic actions.

Wow - I am so pleased at the reception this has received. Quite honestly, I really believe the power of the piece comes from the way Deb has interpreted the image. As always, I am in awe of her gentle yet absolute ability to thrust past the superficial and grab meaning at the core. It pleases me tremendously to see that I am not alone in this appreciation.
