Under a full moon's gaze
You spot the I in my eyes
Capture a paradox
In shades of gray
Sketch me in charcoal hues
Draw me out of darkness
Let the rays of light inspire
A portrait of your penciled muse
Gently stroke me
My bones are at your mercy
As you seep lead on my body
Immortalize my blushed repose
You rubbed me when my soul went numb
Swathed me with oils when I rusted
Bathed me when my heart grew filthy
Tickled when my mouth was grim
Shaded my eyes til they glowed
Drew my lips til they smirked
Colored in my wan cheeks
Painted me into a woman
Wherever you are
Whomever you're with
I find you each night in the moonlight
Where we kiss under a milky haze
I'll never forget
The things that never happened

It's beautiful how you use an artist to explore and explore your beauty and discover sensuous emotions deep down insidae of you.
It's quite breathtaking.
That is truly, honest to God, no bullshit, one of the best lines of poetry I've ver read. It just resonates for me.
Great job
Beautiful, as if I was not there with you...

'I'll never forget

Touching the heart, the poem leaves an indelible impression. Loved it, Amanda.
I love the idea of painting love in the brush strokes of an artist. The metaphor is exquisitely sensual. I particularly like:
"You rubbed me when my soul went numb
Swathed me with oils when I rusted
Bathed me when my heart grew filthy"
Out of imaginings, I found myself longing for this "other world reality".
This is a first - I have, no words. Only wow.
Hugs,
Marilyn
