I just sent a test email to myself to see how the link would work when inviting people to Gather through my email. It takes the person to a page with an accept button, but the biggest thing on the page is an ad that tells people that inviting others boosts your points. How terribly rude! The person will think that I invited them to get points.
The only way this doesn't show up and a nicer message is posted is to give them your pw for your email account. I don't care if they SAY it's secure and they don't store it. I am sure that is their intention. I don't think they are dishonest, however, with the technical glitches that I have encountered here, I can just imagine someone hitting the accept button and finding themselves smack inside my inbox instead of on the Gather site.
I just will not give anyone my personal passwords for anything. It's just bad protocol, and I will not do it. Has anyone else used this new system?

Kathleen, I hope you don't go. I am used to the site now, but I have been using the Internet for over 10 years and this site is not the most user friendly site in the world, understatedly, for maneuverability alone. As far as the social issues, you just have to understand that that will happen anywhere there are people, unfortunate as it may be. There is still a lot of good content on here, and as long as that remains, I shall stay.
